if you are/going to be lowered go for 205/40/17.

I wouldn't get anything wider than 215 on a Lancer (maybe 225 if you got the offset perfectly), and since the profile is a percentage of the width, those 235s would be huge in diameter as well. Scratch those off the list unless you're getting a 4" lift kit and plan on crushing cars.

I have 205/40/17 size tires on my Motegi FF7's. They are probably the perfect size to go with. You won't get any rubbing, and they are just thick enough where potholes won't ruin anything too badly. (although I did get 2 bent rims from hitting a 1ft deep x 10ft wide x 2ft long pothole going 70mph through Detroit on I-75) It bent the rims where you could see it pretty darn good, but my tires/rims don't thump at any speed like they are bent or off balance, and I didn't get a blowout. I've ran over some pretty big bumps and potholes, but the 40 thickness tires held up just fine. That one mammoth pothole is an outlier.. and if you aren't in Michigan, you probably won't have to worry.

yea... pot holes are unavoidable sometimes.. especially when they're that BIG. LOL

I'm running a 215/35 on 18's. But i'm thinking about going down to a 215/40 on a 17 inch rim. Maybe even a bit more narrower, a 205 should be good.

What's the offset on that rims for those packages?

u can go w/ a 215/40/17.... will fit good even lowered and gives it a nice wide grip. That's what I was running and plan on to again.

I run 205/40/17's on 17x7 enkeis. Size is great. Like was said. Potholes wont kill anything really. In the future if you ever plan to drop they will work as well. thats why I went with 205's.

guys if you do the math a 45 sidewall matches the factory spec perfectly. Im running 205/45/17 yoko's and they dont rub and they match the factory diameter so my speedo is still perfect. plus theres a little bit more sidewall for those fun potholes.

speedo variation between goin 40 or 45 would be minimal. youd have to go like 200mph for you to even notice a difference.
which is obviously not possible.

205/40/17
Speedometer reading with non-stock tire is 3.1% too fast
At 60mph your speedo will read 58.1 mph

205/45/17
Speedometer reading with non-stock tire is 0.2% too slow
at 60mph your speedo will read 60.1 mph

So at the 200mph you were talking about with a 205/40/17 your speedo would read 193.8mph. I guess it really depends on what you think is minimal.
