Rock Chip, what do I do?

This morning I got out and noticed I had a pretty sizeable set of chips at the edge of my hood. My heart dropped. A rock must've hit me, a pretty big one. What do you guys normally do with something this noticeable? Should I see if a shop can touch it up, do it myself, or does the whole hood need repainting?

My best advice is to take a deep breath and let it go. Your hood and bumper will always get chipped up, especially with the cheap paint. Buy some touch-up paint, but don't expect the chip to disappear completely.

I struggled with this for the first few thousand miles, but now my IX has countless little chips on the front, as well as three chips in the windshield. I cringe every time I hear a rock hit, and curse myself for not getting a clear bra.

Just be thankful the rocks haven't dented your hood or roof yet. I've seen this happen to a few Evos, and it's much more visible than just a little rock chip.

It's not small, like you guys think - or at least I am assuming you think. It's at least a set of chips on the front edge this long ________________. It was a big rock, I guess.

+1 for this guy

also I am against clear bra's since they cost so much for decent ones. I figure if my hood/bumper gets chipped/dented that much then mine as well replace it with aftermarket for nearly the same price.

also insurance covers like 2 rock chips on the window a year i believe. ask them about it.

My car is my baby, i'm sure you guys understand. I'm going to have my gf touch it up, since she's more artistic. What paint do you think, for the tarmac black? Most places only carry that GM, FORD, or Universal. I think may be diamler chrysler(which might be closer, since they used to share engines and chassis.) But has anyone had experience with the black? What is the better color?

go to a PPG paint place I think they can color match you a little tiny bottle of it for fairly cheap.

Mitsubishi has touch-up paint that is color matched to your paint. Go to any Mitsubishi dealership and pick up a Tarmac Black touch-up pen. They may have to order it. You can also find it online for cheaper, I'm sure.

I've also heard of people that use permanent markers to touch-up black paint, but I have no idea how well this works.

You guys, we should start a Drivers Against Rock Transport foundation. Then we'll have a commercial for a candidate that runs for president supporting our foundation. It'll be like: " Davis Arnold doesn't care about Iraq. But he sure as hell isn't going to let rocks hit his evo. " Then it shows like a cop pulling over a dump truck and pulling a gun. " Davis Arnold loves his Evo and would die before your's got hit by a rock. Davis Arnold, because life is just too short to get hit by rocks. "

Lol. You should get a pic of a rock and put it in like a no smoking circle with the cross through it for the banner.
