Evo crash video

You guys have probably already seen this, but I thought it was worth reposting for newbies:

http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...06&q=evo+crash

Looks like this happened in France, based on the voices I can hear in the background. I speak French so I can give you some translations:

The text in the beginning says "Is this really a good idea?"

Then a few moments later it says "But......"

Besides being stupid and drifting in dangerous places, looks like the guy took too much speed into a corner, then made the classic mistake of trying to keep the car on the pavement when he should have just driven straight off with both feel in. Adding steering lock to try to stay on the track is what caused the car to go off sideways and flip. Had he just straightened out the wheel and driven off, he might have glanced off a barrier, but he wouldn't have rolled.

At the end, the camera zooms in on a decal on the hood that says "Race Driving School".

Sobering video indeed.

Yes, as I said in the initial post, you have probably seen this before.

What's so awful about a repost anyway? I'm sure evolutionm.net gets dozens of new members every month. I myself just joined a few days ago. Reposting interesting topics gives the newbies a chance to see them, instead of having to look down hundreds of posts or trying to come up with the correct search words for a specific topic, and then sifting through hundreds of search results. Believe me, I've done both many times.

Just because you have seen something before doesn't make it any less valuable to new members. The site is shared by newbies and oldies alike. Tolerance is needed by all.

So congratulations on your senior status in this forum, and your excellent long-term memory. Now learn to love reposts and let us newbies have our fun!

Thanks for reading.

amen,

sad crash but that person was being really stupid and in my opinion, very dangerous. Look at the other cars racing, this was not a drift event. I'm surprised that person wasn't pulled off the track... Shame on track organizers.

Oh well, another one bites the dust...

p.s. anybody know the name of the song in that vidoe? (the second songe, slower one with the guitar that plays when he's crashing)

Yes, shame on the event organizers for not throwing that guy (girl?) out as soon as s/he started getting squirrely. Obviously it was not a drifting event, more like an open lapping day. That driver would have been black flagged in an instant at the kind of events I instruct at and run. On the track, we literally hold each other's lives in our hands. We have zero tolerance for what is seen in this video.

Are you sure the driver was female? They show a grainy close up of a skinny person with long hair walking away at the end, but France is filled with long-haired skinny guys. I lived there for five years, back when *I* had long hair and was skinny! I thought I saw a passenger's helmet bobbing around during the rollover as well.

There was a post somewhere where this video was originally shown, the member who posted claimed it was a female driver AND she was an driving instructor. The original video was such clearer, it looked like a female driver walking away from the accident too me then.

Female or not they are pretty good drivers/drifter... Up til the crash... But yea they should have been thrown out of the event. If you want to drift go to drift event.
