race gas????
race gas????
i have no idea about race gas.....im tuned on 91 oct. (due to california's weak gas) at the track they offer different oct. of race gas which should i choose...
Very High Octane, I use 93 in my stock Evo cause its recomended by the Factory. I put some 89 in once cause i am dumb, and the Car started knocking every time I started to boost. But Race Gas has i belive higer octane ratings. I don't think more octane can hurt your car, just your wallet.
You should get tuned by Shiv for race gas as well. He recommended VP Motorsport 109 race fuel if you do go with a race gas tune. Call up Van De Pol Enterprises (888-587-3835), and ask for their VP MS 109 race fuel. I don't know if they do deliveries to your area though since they are located in Stockton, but I was able to get delivery into San Jose from them. Hope that helps!
Race gas in and of itself does not make more power unless you raise your boost. Race gas allows you to up your boost about 3 psi to push more power.
However, if your car was pulling timing with your regular gas, adding race gas MAY yield more power because you will no longer pull timing.
Pick the highest UNLEADED race gas you can afford and crank up your boost.
** it is always good to datalog how your car is running when you start fiddling with upping boost etc...

You have to up your boost to take advantage of the higher octane. I run 21-22 psi w/ 93, 26-27 w/102. However, I have ARP head studs too. I notice a big difference @ 26 psi. I'll probably try 28 psi w/110 after I get retuned w/ my cam gears.

It has lead in it. I think the highest unleaded vp make is 106. Everything after has lead and will gum up o2 sensors and sparkplugs after awhile. If you add race gas without tuning make sure to turn the boost up a little bit. If you dont, you will just make your car run like **** because it will run super rich.

thanks
And if your at the track, maybe do like 2 gal race gas 2gal pump. Make sure you are almost on E before doing this. Then if your running like 21-22lbs normally crank it up to 23.5-24lbs of boost.
