I'm a long time fan since UFO got his first Evo. He let me drive his old white Evo once, and I loved it. Ever since I've wanted one.

Well right now, I'm driving a 2003 Mustang GT. The plan is to give it to my wife and I get a new car. I'm aiming at a new Evo RS.

Anyway, I felt I'd just introduce myself. Hope to learn some good things over here!

Welcome. Hope you do a lot of research for pricing before you get one. Don't want to see anyone pay too much for an Evo. Are you sure you can live without the power windows/locks etc with the RS? Just asking because you're coming from a GT.

 

I'm still wondering why they don't offer mustangs with manual windows anymore.


I've been talking to UFO some, and he mentioned that the breaking factor (a.ka. lack of ABS) kept him from an RS. That is the ONLY thing that would keep me from getting an RS. All the other stuff I can deal with. I'd prefer having no bells and whistles. I am researching a lot, hence why I got on here.

I'm going to price my options, and I will go from there. I am not touching the MR, I'm trying to keep costs down as much as possible. That means an RS with some options, or an EVO IX with few options.

Right now the RS with all the extras I want comes out to: $31,429 MSRP ,and the IX with limited extras comes out to: $32,486 MSRP.

So I will need to work and see what the invoice prices are, and aim somewhere in between when I start looking at the beginning of 2007.

By the way, can any of you clarify what these are (by pics if you have access to them please):
Front Air Dam Extension
Front Corner Air Dams
Rear Spoiler Extension
Vortex Generator

I have yet to see any pictures with these features on it, so please, if you could, show me the difference with and without. I'd greatly appreciate it. If I don't need these items, that can save me almost $1k.

 

Vortex generators are the "spike like" things at the top of the rear windshield / base of roof that aids in creating more down force.

 

You don't need any of those things... save the $K!

The vortex generator is the shark fins on top of the car. The spoiler extension is a little ridge on the back top of the spoiler... it's like a spoiler spoiler. The front extensions are semi-cosmetic, semi-functional... You won't even notice not having them, but you'll notice the extra 1,000 in your bank account!
