Definitely consider deployment and where the car will go. My buddy's Miata has been out in front of my house for a little while now while he's on float. He left it on base originally, but they were going to tow it for some reason. Something to think about, especially since you just got out of boot camp!!

When you go on floats... there is a lot to park your cars for all Marines on floats...

I wont use it though... once in awhile you get people steal parts off, or you may end up with a maintenance bill once you come back because of the car sitting there for a long period of time... critters may make nests in the engine bay

or you can leave it with a friend.... NOT!!! he may abuse it

leave it with family members... instruct them on what to do .. for example dont put the wrong gas or fluids in there

I plan to leave mine with my brother and tell him... dont drive it...BUT I know he will... so I have a secret...

I will leave it in the valet map mode... I dont know if that works, but I will find out

You can always leave your car with a friend....as long as you trust the friend not to mess it up!! I've had a couple cars here a few times because I actually live in a pretty nice neighborhood....which is really hard to find in Jacksonville NC!!!!

My brother had his Evo here for a couple of months while he was waiting for the rear bumper and a new door skin cause someone put a little dent in the driver's side door and ran off. Can't go wrong with family members.

congrats on the purchase bro, dont go crazy on the modding just yet. out of curiousity if anybody knows, can someone enlighten the rest of us exactly how much a marine straight from boot camp gets paid? im not a military man just in law enforcement. and the way my father spoke of the army back in the 70s sounded like the pay sucked. i assume the rates went up. anyways thanks for any info.

Its not much I think I was making like 5 something every two weeks as a E-2, but I didnt pay for hot chow, rack, and other stuff. I only had a cell phone payment and a car payment so it works out.

good performance there are hard numbers...looks wise you can put in your opinion but its just that, an opinion. if he wants stickers, vg etc etc who cares mind your own. bein prior i'd think you'd have a lil more respect.
i seperated (air force) as an e-4. i made plenty to afford a new evo and pay my other bills

and donmeca you should be able to look up military pay somewhere on the web.

I'm an e-3 in the Air Force, live in the dorms, and I've had my 05 for a year now($1,000 worth of mods) and can afford it along with the insurance...it's tight but I'm doing it. You have to be extremely frugal with your money when you own a car like this. I save my money by slipping a little money each month($200) into a TSP and a roth IRA. Budgeting your money each month is very important as it doesn't allow you to blow it all and you can see where it's all going every month....for the Marine, you should save as much money as you can while paying for the evo just in case ie: retirement, emergency money, extra money for whatever etc. because money is tight with us enlisted folks and you gotta spend it in the right places. Just some food for thought.
