Cheap mods for 2002 ES Lancer?
Howdy all
I just got my sister's stock 2002 es lancer. I've just started driving and i dont ahve a job just yet. I dont wanna ask my parents for money for any upgrades or whatever so i was wondering if there were some cheap ones i could buy out there that added a bit more HP? I read somewhere that the lancer only has about 100 and im not too happy about that. Im not looking to race it (much
) so i was thinking bring it up to like 130 or so? And if there are any tips about my car that would really help me, they would be greatly appreciated. Anything from gas to how i wash it
Thank you very much for your time

If you're looking for relatively cheap performance mods, I suggest starting with an intake. Even the eBay intakes work well for the money they cost.
I'm a firm believer that:
1) anything beats the stock airbox. I think getting a drop in filter is such a waste, seeing as how you can get an eBay intake for half the cost of a K&N filter.
2) there's very little difference between a short ram and a CAI, gain-wise, so a short ram is a more cost-effective choice.
3) although I do believe you get what you pay for, unless you're going with the RMR short ram with it's functional heat shield, I don't see a point in getting a name brand short ram.
Next performance mod to get, staying in the low price range would be a test pipe. Check with stealth-wrx cuz he's got awesome pipes for less than $60. Trust the quality - I know two of our car club members that love his work.
Lastly, exhaust can get spendy, but - and I know it's getting repetitive guys - but you can buy my RMR exhaust for $175 shipped. The other cheap alternative is to get your own muffler and bring it to a shop to get it welded on, but I think you'll break out even if you were to get stainless steel 2.25" piping to make a similar axleback exhaust.
