NSX vs. Evo IX

Hey guys, a couple weeks ago I was driving to go to Best Buy, and going the other way was a Red Acura NSX. What are the specs on these cars, and are they moddable? I was just curious cuz the guy rev'd it when he drove by. Also, how is their mid range to top end cuz i believe they are straight aspirated? In other words, how does a stock Evo 9 compare to a NSX?

3x the price, 1x the performance.

(NSX's were ~$90k, 290 HP Aluminum V6)

Stock NSX would probably be the faster car, they aren't bad by any means, but they cost *way* more than they should for what they offer, IMO.

They do look awesome though. *shrug*

Comparison:

NSX: Mid engine RWD - Evo: Front engine AWD
NSX: V6 VTEC N/A - Evo: I4 Mivec Turbo
NSX: Hand made - Evo: Not hand made
NSX: 290HP - Evo: 286hp
NSX: Weight ~3000lbs - Evo: ~3200lbs
NSX: 0-60mph 4.9 seconds 1/4mile low to mid 13s - Evo: 0-60mph 4.8 seconds 1/4mile mid to high 13s.

Mostly mid to high end. Peak torque is around 5500rpms and peak hp is around 7000rpms.
How well does it respond to mods? About as well as the other Honda motors when it comes to bolt ons.

Lucky You, you don't see many NSX around They Cost aroun 50k and up, stock for stock your Evo drives Circles around it all day long on pretty much any track. But It is MR and Has Some potenitial, It has a Sucky motor, the Stupid Legend v6 motor. But with some mods and a little suspension work they are Sick autocrossers. They look Hot, and they are Acura so they're Expensive. But otherwise they are pretty Decent and Quick. They are Rare too.

in a straight line a IX will win but maybe not an VIII.....but in the handling department stock for stock....the NSX will outperform the EVO.

It has almost perfect weight distribution and with properly set up coilovers will still out handle a properly set up EVO.....it really depends on the driver though an NSX is hard to drive to the limit, but a good driver can control the rotation of the rear.

Good question. Well Honda/Acura fans would compare this car as their Lamborghini or Ferrari. It's a RWD 3.2L V6 VTEC wid 290HP. Any car is moddable including this one but i saw a cat-back exhaust for about $4000 and intake for $800, I don't even wanna get into the turbo kit. It is very costly and when it on sale the car retailed for about $80,000+. For that kind of money i'll got buy a Diablo and **** on that car stock. Nice looking car but personally the evo is a better buy. If you wanna see some facts go to youtube.com and search "UK Evo 8 vs Mercielargo" If you haven't seen that video watch it. Trust me. I'll get more info if u need to know more about the NSX.

Well naming the brand new price isnt fair since there are no more new ones....a nice 98 can be had for 35K......and yes the mods are expensive......clutch job requires engine removal......little things like that add up.....but if you want a good looking and reliable exotic that is fast stock and handles well stock then an NSX is a good buy.

That vid is of the FQ400 with the Super AYC so it's kinds of hard to compare it to our watered down Evos.

A turbo engine will usually respond better to reflash, exhaust, intake, etc. than a NA engine would. My rsx with exhaust, intake, reflash gave me roughly 30whp. Take those same mods and stick them on a IX with a mbc and you're looking at close to a little more than double the increase in hp.

two completely different cars..... If you're lookin for a linear powerband, rwd, and a true sports car feel then go for the NSX.

If you're lookin for ***** out performance and grip......go for the evo. Sure the Evo requires far less skill, and is definately less involving/fun to drive, but with just a couple mods the NSX will be nowhere to be found.

3SgteGuru:

Where do you get your information? First, NSXs are not that rare at all. They've been making the same car for like 15 years, and here in Cali they're everywhere.

The Evo does not drive circles around it. In fact, the NSX is one of the world's best handling cars, period. The NSX special edition (only slightly different than a regular NSX, not sold in US) may be THE world's best handling car, and with 300HP it smokes more powerful 360 Modenas and 911TTs around a track due to its superior handling.

The motor is not sucky in any way. It's also one of the greatest high revving V6s ever.

Lastly, whats's with the weird random capitalization thing in your writing?

I was able to come barley out front of an nsx. and I had a 03 stock evo 8.

They are pretty and thats about it. I know if I had one I wouldn't go racing anyone cause for around 90k its not impressive.

And you could get a '98 Evo 5 (or whatever # it was then) for less than 10k (assuming you lived somewhere that there were '98 Evo's), it's still triple. =p

I still think they are very nice cars, just overpriced.
