My friend says the evo 8 has 220 actually wheel horsepower is this true I thiguht it was at 276?

 

the stock whp is anywhere between 220 and 240 for the VIII every car is a little different

 

276 is at the crank not the wheels. After drivetrain loss is factored in 220 whp is possible depending on the dyno/car.

 

276 is at the engine.

You might have more hp when you actually driving on the road versus being straped to a dyno. 1) more air is being pushed into the intercooler which makes it cool more effectively 2) the ecu would detect the engine bay is getting too hot due to high stress and not enough cooling so it would dial back a bit.

 

220WHP is usually right around what 03's and 04's have..........05's are usually around 240 or so.
