The BMW 335i is a very nice car and I couldn't fault you for going with it, but it is very expensive and while it is similiar in straightline performance as a IX, it is no where near as capable as far as all around performance. Still the IX cannot match the fit and comfort of the 335i. It all really depends on what you are looking for out of a car.

I saw the new 335 and it looks nice with the twin turbo and all, but the EVO gets respect here.. Its not the fastest or best by far... In fact Audi Wagons roll right by me on the Autobahn on a daily basis.. But they look at my car while passing, not the other way around..
I'm confused. Are you saying that your Evo can't keep up with those Audi wagons (I assume you're talking 450 bhp RS6 wagon, not TDI). Did you remove the speed limiter on your Evo? To date, no wagon was able to keep up with me at 280 km/h

^^How does he get a slower car Skilmatic? If you want to speak of trim models that don't justify then look at a Nissan 350Z, from the base model to the Track model there is a $13000 gap, now that is a waste!

If you're gonna mod go with the Evo, you can bet your left nut that the BMW will be a beotch to modify, that whole car is going to be one closed loop operation. Parts will be stupid expensive and you're gonna blow your warranty out the door - think the Evo is pricey to maintain? You do NOT want to get stuck with a BMW with no warranty. I've done my share of Euro cars, I went Evo because i want to tinker.

If you go BMW get a lease and dump the thing after 3 years, it's still gonna be a blast to drive for 90% of all roads.

lol thats the dumbest thing i've ever read on this site. and there is a lot of dumb here.

losing 4kgs on the roof alone lowers your center of gravity by 2mm...which in fact makes the car a lot more stable when taking hard turns.

lighter wheels makes a very very slight difference but hardly noticable though.

suspension is a huge upgrade from the GSR...makes it one less thing to need moding.

6spd tranny is better geared.

Suspension is an upgrade but not A HUGE UPGRADE.
6 speed is better geared? depending on what kind of driving you plan to do.
IMO, I'd rather have the stronger tranny(5 spd).

Currently some of us would rather spend that $3,000-4,000 for the MR on something else. This doesn't mean, I wouldn't want to own an MR.

I'm not supporting that the MR is slower. I just had some disagreements with what Golovko said.

Idk, vishnu says different... 335i Dyno Results, also Automobile Mag dyno theres at 285rwhp, BMW 335i dyno numbers - round two

It really depends on what your looking for. Between the IX and 335i, it's a hard choice, one is raw and the other is elegant. We know the evo takes well to mods, and based on vishnu tune and dyno, the 335i is underrated and took very well to the xede. If it was me, (as I am) I'd go IX, only because I know what a luxary car feels like and would like something a bit more raw, you on the other hand might be different. Maybe if I test drive the 335i I might change my mind, idk.

Either way it goes, you can't go wrong with either. I cancel my appointment today to test drive the 335i, im feeling lazy today, plus not in the mood to be hassle on a new car purchase

I would do some research before making such erroneous claims, Dr.

I dont know where in SoCal you live, but if it's OC....335i's are the civics of SoCal. But if you're for the luxury, thats the way to go. If performance is your goal, Evo is the way to go.

There are very small differences between the MR and "GSR". A tad bit quicker from the 6spd tranny but a good driver can defeat that. I would say if you're not going to modify the suspension but still track it... MR. If you're goin to change the wheels and suspension, buy other guages...then IX(gsr) is the way to go.

You won't go wrong with the MR. It's just rare enough to make it more desireable, depreciate less, you'll have less regrets.
