lol at a dealer that will remain un-named, i went with my non-car savvy friend to look at evo ix's, and they salesman told him with a straight face, you could "pull a pin to convert to rwd" i laughed and told him to walk out. honest to god true story.

god damn you, Fast and Furious.

First it was kids wanting to double clutch.
Then it was kids wanting purge kits to blow nitrous at each other.
Now RWD evos? c'mon.

rhys millen made the rwd evo8 in some video I saw and also the one used in the fandf tokyo drift(he was the head stunt driver and coordinator). All the cars on the movie had slower times than stock counterparts due to the bodykits, the big wheels like the other member said. I don't know why evryones gotta break this guys ***** for asking a question. Isn't this one of the things evolutionm is for, to get questions awnsered about our cars?

Not sure about better.... um... I'd say different. With RWD, you can steer more with the throttle which makes it fun. With AWD, you can really put the power down coming out of turns where a RWD car would be swinging its *** end out.

Given cars with equal whp, and equal weight, I'd put money on the AWD car to win on any sort of track over RWD.

yeah but most rwd cars are lighter, lets face its, awd is heavy lol, so unless your in a cobra (3800lbs) you're most likely cutting weight, m3s are a perfect example.

If anyone is looking for a RWD Evo, I think they should go look towards buying another car.

Interesting thread....but seriously, a RWD EVO would be a "step down" in my opinion.

As stated above, unless your a SERIOUS drifter and want to be realllly different by using an Evo (most likely ull pick another platform) you wouldnt do this conversion.

Take the Skyline for example - When i was over in Japan, i saw TONS of Skylines that werent the GTR model (GTS i think) and they were nice - fast - and very very cool - BUT the King of the Jungle is the GTR! Why? Same motor as the other models + the super-sick AWD system that really sets the car apart from the rest of the lineup.

So in this case, i feel as if a RWD "Evo" would sit 'below' the AWD version in performance. Would it be cool? Eh, maybe...but why not just go buy a 350z, s2k, or something with a chasis designed for RWD.

Not a horrible question...AND Tokyo Drift is a very cool movie!

If you want a RWD car get yourself a Fbody or Mustang. Put a 12 or 9 bold on the rear end, and some DR's and then you have yourself a RWD car. Even I know (fbody driver) that this has to be the stupidest thing I have ever heard. Who buys a Evolution and makes it RWD. Like Red says on That 70's show..."Dumbass!"

I don't think it's that dumb of an idea. Did you watch the vid? It's pretty cool if you ask me. To see an Evo do that just does something for me. If You REALLY want to drift an Evo, I'd say go for it. I'd give it props.

I wouldn't do it to my Evo, though. If I had like 5 Evos, maybe I'd do it to one of them.

Let's see, one for street, one for drag, one for road race, one for rally, one for drift.
