Vent <M3 Vs Evo>

I have a friend who all he does is talk ***t about evo's. He say's that he is a STI guy but will never be able to afford one. He then informed me that a friend of his has a stock M3 and can't stand evo's. He said that his friend will race my friend (RoMeIX) for titles. We then laughed for a good day or so over these comments. He would say such things as the M3 is "Push Button AWD", "Has automatic lauch feature", "Seperate racing modes".

I have never meet this friend so he could be as real as a doo doo bird. We were able to get him to shut up untill recently he then informed me of a video that he saw on youtube showing a M3 beating a evo. Due to this worthless video I now have to hear more and more bashing. Every time we have tried to arrange for them to race he seems to back out or never gets around to it.

My friend has a Evo IX with a ECU flash, Turbo back exhaust, drop in, boost controller. How do you think he will fare agaist this stock M3 E46?

Comments welcome

The m3 will take it if its stick and the driver knows how to shift. If its SMG, the evo will probably be ahead until 60 mph, then the m3 would pass all da way up to 160

Works Flash, Full exhaust, myself and another evo similar to mine killed an M3 on three counts (just to make sure!) with modified exhaust and headers.. Tell your friend he stands no match even with a stock evo9..

The M3 guy was very funny, said: 'all i could see was a black monster heading towards my rear view mirror..'

Well.. I wish i could say as much about the M5 that kicked my butt! Maybe another month or two, when I'll have my Shearer kit! ;-)

What are you talking about M3 will take it if it is stick Maybe stock for stock, but his evo is modded and prolly has 330whp. It will be a massacre by the EVO, any speed, manual M3 or auto, if the M3 is stock, which he said it is

M3s have about 330bhp stock.
Stock for stock the M3 might be just a little faster.
A modded Evo IX should be much closer.

A properly tuned Evo VIII or IX with a 50 trim or GT30R turbo
will absolutely blow the fricken doors off that M3.

An Evo with a GT35 and greater is more competitive with an M5.

From what I've read, it appears that the M3 is expensive modify.

I was at South Coast Mitsubishi in Costa Mesa California a while ago.
There was quite a few used later model M3s traded in for Evo IXs.

Just my 2 cents.

Uh no.....

A SMG M3 is much faster than a stick. The SMG II style in the 2005's have launch control built in and 5 or 6 different shift modes you can utilize. My good friend has had both - I know.

After a short ride in his 05; I was unimpressed speedwise. Of course I didn't launch it, but it doesn't pull like my Evo does. It's not slow, but it's not all that fun to drive in a straightline with a single flick-shift either.
He rode in my 03 Evo and has ridden/drove my 06 Evo. He wouldn't race either - we both know the outcome, as the Evo would take it especially given I have the basic mods.

A stock M3 runs a low 13, maybe a 13.4 1/4?
A stock Evo IX runs a 13.2 I think??

Exclamation

Not another one of these threads...

Please, don't start your career off here with a vs. post. They have been beat to death, death, death and back.

Just stop, really... lock this thread. Only way to find out is actually race.

Very true.
You can get CAI, exhaust and an ecu upgrade via Dinan (dealership) installed. Or else you void your $50k warranty. Either way it's f'in expensive for not a lot of power - but it is an N/A car, you have to remember.

Also, the M3 puter logs all your crazy top speeds and launch conditions... haneous.

I know 2 companies that sale supercharger kits, one is like $8k, the other like $25k.

^agreed.

however a IX with those mods pushing around 330whp will destroy an M3. it's making to the wheels what the M3's making to the crank....it's simple logic.

internet racing ftw

Ive driven both, evo pulls better and handles tighter but the M3 is way more fun to drive. I drove stick and german stick is sumthin else. Evos a nice *** car and is hela fast, but id rather drive the M3 because of its quality.

Just wait til the new V8 m3s come out. =

I walked all over my buddy’s M3 with 6 speed on the highway. The only thing is that when I was done racing he kept going and hit 175 on his speedo. For the money I will take an EVO any day.

Okay, first off, we're on a track, right? Now, what kind of track? Dragstrip, road course? Actually it really doesn't make a difference, I bet they're pretty equal. More so, who cares? You have car you enjoy, that's all that matters. If that isn't enough, go out to track and run them, see who wins and there ya go. But before you start judging which car is "better" by who wins, I would hazard the driver has much more to do with it than the hardware.
