Talking Picking up my new EB IX tonight!

Hi,

I have been reading these forums for a couple of months now, and I am finally getting my Evo. I am pretty excited as this is my first car I am buying all by myself.

I have read a few things on break in, but nothing too specific. Is there anything I should know? When do you think I should do the first oil change? Some people have said to do it relatively soon (under 1K miles or even sooner) and other people said I can wait until the first scheduled one. The one I am getting only has 2.3 miles on it now so I don't want to mess it up!

Thanks for the help in advance, and I am glad I can be a part of this great community now!

Yea, I really can't be coming from my boat of an old car, a 94 Chrysler Concorde, and with the deal I got through work. I saved $1,750 under invoice.

Nice beater. haha

Breaking in... tons of threads on this, but I'll tell you how I did it.

Take it easy - keepthe engine under 5k rpm's for the first 600 miles (I know it seems like forever when you're doing it, but it really does go by fast)

Change the oil @ 600 miles then at regular intervals as usual.

My two cents.

There's like a million different ways to break in ur car from the opinion of different people. What I did, I drove it normal without going above 5k rpm, while varrying the rpms as much as possible. Also, when I got the chance, I would spool the turbo up a much as I could without flooring it. I did that for 1k miles and changed the oil. I did a compression test at 5k miles and everything seemed to have seated in quite nicely.

I am getting it from Schaller in New Britain. I am from Norwalk, and will be in Ellington in December. I will be in Springfield, MA temporarily until then however.

After driving this car, all I can say is WOW. I can't wait until the first 1000 miles are over so I can really see what she can do.
