Winter Tires

Hey guys,

I live in the northeast, this will be my first winter with my GG IX MR, I was just wondering if you guys had any tips on what the absolute best winter tires are (in your opinion) and where I can get them for a good price (or at least a discount). Thanks in advance!

Also, if you have any other winter tips for the evo feel free

I have dunlop wintersport m3's on my evo and loved it. Townfair Tire matched tireracks prices and actually got them for a bit cheaper.

One tip, just because you have snow tires doesn't mean your unstoppable, drive safetly.

Very good except they're worthless after the thread wear is greater than 1/3 of the thread.

I'm getting some NOKIAN HAKKAPELIITTA 5 tires.

blizzaks are great, from what i remember the suby boards the majority of the people use them. The LM22 are a bit more sporty but still great in the snow, the ws-50 are made for serious snow duties.

Blizzaks are an excellent tire I had the lm25s for two seasons, this year I went to edgeracing.com and bought hankook's cause they're very reasonably priced and got a few good reviews on this site.

the hakka 5 isn't listed on nokian's site any more. is it studded? in ct there isn't really a need for a studded snow tire. i run the hakka rsi which is a good balance between snow tire and street tire since most of the time the roads are relatively dry. i also considered with ws50, but went with the rsi because of my previous pleasant experience with the hakka q. nokian is always a good choice for a winter tire, sometimes it's a bit pricey though

blizaks are great winter tires..but...you might wanna try michelin winter x.
I just bought these since they are a bit cheaper than the blizaks.

I personally think they are very good winter tires.
The dry grip is not good but wet and snow seems very good.
We had our first snow (it was very light), and had no problems with traction.

I"ve searched and searched before buying winter tires.
I think I mad a pretty good choice.
One downside of the tires is that the speed rating is very low (Q speed rating).
I wouldnt be going over 100mph during winter/snow anyways.

BTW, tirerack has reviews on these tires by the users.
You might wanna check it out.

Last winter I had Hankook W300 tires. I think they are called Ice Bear or something. They were the cheapest GOOD snow tire I could find. Driving in the snow felt like pavement. They are awesome with regard to performance, and they are easy on the wallet as well.

x2... best tire for dry performance and more than enough grip to get you throw even deep snow. I had them on a FWD and ran through 12in+ with no problem.
