learning stick

Wassup y'all. Im new to the evo world and hope to be getting a Evo 9 by the end of the year. I was wondering how many of you guys learned stick on the evo and how was it. Im asking this because i probably have to learn on an evo because i dont really have access to any stick shifts. Id appreciate your feedback.

Dude, I had a little experience driving a stick before but they were all brief lessons. When I got my Evo I was nervous hell because I didn't want to mess it up and it was my first manual car. It takes some getting use to but it was easier the more I drove it....the biggest problem is driving up hill in stop or go traffic or parking up hill. Just as a suggestion I would practice driving in empty parking lots and early weekend mornings while others are sleeping in ( this is what I did). Good luck to you and welcome to the World Evolved.

yeah you should be fine if you have driven before, evo was my first manual car and i only drove stick on a few other occasions. but if you have the basics down you should be fine. unless you do a lot of hill driving in traffic. then i say get another car you can practice on when there is no traffic. might want to think about another car too if you have never driven stick at all so you dont feel like a douche when you stall in front of everyone. stick just takes getting used to.

I highly recommend learning on a different car. See if your friends will let you practice on their cars. Lucky i had a friend step up and offer his car, so i learned to drive stick on a civic with an ITR motor and an unsprung clutch... Not the best car yet again, but i got good quick and i wasnt screwing up my car!

I only had very brief lessons on driving stick and i kinda got it down but i RARELY get to practice so i am always rusty. And i tend to stall wen one of my friends lets me drive their car. Well thanks for the feedback everybody.

My first experience with stick-shift was my evo (consequently I also learned how to drive stick with my car) which also happened to be my first car....Needless to say, it's scary as ****, knowing you dont know how to drive stickshift and you're trying to drive a car with 300HP. Try to take it easy because your mistakes will hurt the car due to its tremendous power. I'd recommend driving around in a quiet urban neighborhood for few months till you get used to the car. Good luck with everything

^^ Lol, im gonna have to agree. I learned stick on a like 92 Civic. Then got myself an RSX, had it for a year then traded it in for my Evo, and I still stalled the Evo once no joke. Clutch is a little hard to get use to especially coming from an RSX clutch which you can literally push all the way down with one pinky...Lol

Get used to that. I learned stick on an Air Force 2 1/2 ton truck and shortly after bought my evo... complete difference. But like everybody else said, practice when nobody else is around and don't try to "show off" it'll only make you look like more of a douche. Last thing, practice on hills asap so you have that exp. when in that situation in traffic.

Congrats on hopefully getting the Evo!!
