I think it tells you in the owner's manual but from what I've heard I believe it's around 500 or so miles then change the oil.

man that's guna be hard when I get my new evo. Im thinking about just letting my mom drive it for 1K just so I dont accadentally mess it up. I take the GS to about 6 or 7 before shifting, its habit now. Guess its time to break that one. . . .

just drive it easy for around 600 miles. you can boost if you want but i wouldnt recommend more than 10-15 psi and dont go above 5k rpm,s. When slowing down i suggest you do it mostely with down shifting letting the car slow down in the lower gears but not more than 5k rpm,s. The rings will seat better and faster that way. After the 600 miles i would change the oil and filter then slowly starting to let her rip. Also be nice and easy on the brakes, dont try bedding them in just take it nice and easy on them and they should seat perfectly. ( mine did, not even a squeal out of them so far, 7100 miles). I also did a lot of double clutching, upshifting and downshifting even though its a fully syncronized trans. AT 1k miles i would change the trans. fluid,(BG syncroshift 11,stock diaqueen in T/C and diffs.) I did it just the way i,m describing it to you and i dont burn any oil and the car shifts smooth as glass and stops great with no pulsing or squeal at any speeds.Everyone has there own way of breaking in there new car and work fine. This is the way i did it on my 03 8 and my IX and like i said it worked out great. I know its torture but do it right and enjoy.

You got a bunch of different answers on your searches and you expect a consistent answer from your post?

At any rate, I'd stick with what the manual says - five hundred miles.

Danny is right on. This pretty much what I did with my past new cars and never had any problems. I really had to resist the urge to smoke this mustang gt that was messing with me yesterday. It is torture!
