hey guys, im new, im only 18 and just came here to check things out. i love the evo, and props to you guys on all the nice cars and motors on this site. i know the chances of me getting one would be not so great, just because of insurance. but i have taken a special safety class, have good grades, and my mom will be under primary driver for insurance.. maybe not too high?
i heard a comment from another site: " i would never drive an evo because there is so much electrical and computerized **** put into that car it makes it so confusing to drive."
so it got me thinking, is the evo any more "computerized" as far as the ecu or anything goes compared to other cars. i mean, in general, is it known for being too advanced or too computer-based?
sorry for the long intro and stupid question...

good to see someone else from cinci on the forums. i dont think that there is any thing that would possibly make the evo confusing to drive. the ecu controls more on the evo but that is due to the turbo and some drivetrain paramaters. to me, the only think confusing about the evo is tuning the ecu, but i leave that to the professionals. good luck with getting a evo, hopefully you will and we can meet up sometime.
Welcome. Wouldn't say it's "too computerized." If that was the case, MBCs would be absolutely useless as the ECU would basically render it useless with its Big Brother crap going on. The Evo having electrical problems is funny. We drive a Mitsu, not an Audi or BMW.
If you want to see a car that's practically a computer on wheels, look at the new M5 (E60) or M6. It's comical how long it takes to get the car configured to the specs you want.
Also, the R34, as Jeremy Clarkson would put it, is a Playstation in its self. Whoever told you about those supposed electrical problems and big brother ECU is misinformed.

Hell yea, another cincy memeber!!! I was getting lonely. MBC = manuel boost controller. I've never really heard anything about the computer being too computerized or whatever, but i know the ecu are very very mod sensitive. I love it, the ecu is very smart. But when it comes to tuning that's best left to professionals.

awesome guys, its nice to hear from a couple local guys. right now i drive a bonneville ssei (supercharged), and im looking for a manual/turbo motor. its funny how a little sound between shifts can be such a thrill.. haha.
but anyways, yeah the evo is so mean looking and i have heard nothing but good things.
my other choice was an srt4 because of the price. now compared to the srt, is the evo's ecu alot more technical, or are they about the same, both being turbo cars.
