Just introducing myself!

My name is Nando, and I have decided to purchase an Evo in the upcoming months. I belong to VWvortex.com, and have posted there for a little over 5 years so Im not a forum noob and know how to use search
I currently drive a Diesel VW that came with 90hp stock... I have bumped it to over 150whp and 300wtrq, and can hang with cars that have over 200whp haha. But, I do have a big-o-turbo sitting by the desk, and an intercooler... Once thats on there and after getting reflashed Ill be in the 190-200whp and 400wtrq.
Not bad for a diesel that came with 90hp

My plans with the EVO are to get a turbo kit, and a bunch of bolt ons, and upgrade whatever is needed to make it work with the mods.
Should be fun
I dont post much, so Ill just lurk to find the answers, and if search cant find it, Ill post.

Current Car: (Has changed a little since)

And when I accidently left it out in the sun to long...

I think your plans with an Evo should be track days, driving schools, and autocrosses. Seriously, it is a potent car in stock form that has capabilities far exceeding those of the average driver. Find those limits in stock form and move on from there. We dont need higher insurance rates,,,,

I took a driving course back in 2004 while in Portugal and it was a blast! Ill take more later, but for now Im stuck in school and work.

I learned the hard way that I was not a driving god a bit over 5 years ago. Since that day I have yet to push a car near its limit outside of a controlled enviroment. Even on group drives Ill stay behind if people start being stupid.
Insurance rates wont go up because of me

Welcome.

Try not to underestimate the potential of the stock turbo. You might be in for surprise.

How much stress can the stock turbo reliably handle?
I have not done my research yet
School and work suck...

I ran B20 (20% Biodiesel) because people kept telling me how great, and how many ways it was better than normal diesel.
Clean the system? Yup! My water seperator on my fuel filter got clogged with yellow goop in no time, and my filter got pretty skanky. So it did clean my fuel lines, and maybe even my fuel tank.
Better mileage? Did not do a thing for me other than drop it a little.
Better performance? My “butt dyno” told me my car was slower.
Less smoke? Very true, but I love that black cloud at WOT. Very nice when your getting tailgated.
The price was the same as normal diesel where I fill up, so I never ran Bio after those weeks.
Granted, if I made my own for next to free I would run it again no problem.

Most people are happy with B20, I was not. Might just be my driving style...

Welcome. You'll be impressed with the Evo. I have had two and dont think I will ever sell it. There really is no other car like as far as how it handles and drives. Just a great car can you tell I love it. I gotta agree it is alot of car stock more than most people realize.
