New Evo IX owner checking in...

What's up, i'm new to the forums and new to in general. I am coming from a 450whp 2000 Civic Si so this thing isn't as fast but its fun and i like it more. Just some questions I have that some can give me...

1. I am looking at suspension for my car, anybody know what's some of the more popular coilovers to look at? I'm looking at Tein Basic coilovers as i'm not going to be doing auto-x or any of that stuff...mostly drag (still ill buy drag specific rates later on).

2. What does the stock Evo IX boost at and if i were to put on a MBC, how safe could I turn it up to? I was thinking of just turning it up another 2psi or so. I live in cali so I only have 91 octane.

3. I ordered a BOV flange to replace the stock BOV and I was looking at the motor...is there anything I should be aware of before I just remove all that tubing and end up putting a filter on the turbo?

4.I'm looking for a TBE and for some reason I really like the angled canister look on Evos...what are some brand name companys that are decently priced (i.e. not greddy T.I.)

1) Tein Basics are complete crap.....and putting custom rates does nothing. You do realize that shocks and coilovers are valved for a specific range of spring rates right? You cant just slap any sprng on any shock and expect them not to either break or handle properly. You are going to make your car handle worse, so just stick with stock if you are looking for something cheap.

2)21 psi.....and at stock trim you should leave it that way. Unless voiding your warranty for a handful of horses is worth it to you.

3)Stock BOV is fine, its metal, and holds at stock boost so you have no reason to replace it. Getting a BOV will make ur car run worse. You should search before you start asking things that have been answered about 1,000,000 times.

4)I got my greddy TI for 660....other exhaust that angles are HKS, MEGAN, JUN BL

I under stands about custom rates and I meant more so i'd be picking up some PIC coilovers for drag or something...not actually putting them on some tein basics. Also, where did you pick up your greddy ti for 660 from?

I also fail to understand how the BOV will make my car run worse, please elaborate? If i'm on super stiff i won't have any boost leak so how can anything be different?

Nvm on the BOV statement, I did my research, from what i saw with the greddy type s single spring mod i should be just like stock.

Dude, please don't turn your new Evo into a ricer, and why would you waste money and change the stock bov,it's the best there is for your car.

Please elaborate how changing a BOV could be anywhere NEAR the term of "rice" if modded to perform like stock

If anything...keeping this bigass wing would be rice...

Why change bov to one that's just like stock makes no sence.Removing all the tubing and putting a filter directly on the turbo is total ricer thinking.

The EVO is equiped with a MAF sensor. Do not remove all the 'piping' and put a filter directly on the turbo... your car will run like **** .

And a BOV as a first mod is totally rice. BOV on a stock car = paying for a noise maker.

The stock BOV will hold fine for quite some time, I won't be upgrading mine til the stocker starts leaking at high.. HIGH boost.

No ****? I never knew, thanks for the advice. Just because it's "stock" doesn't mean its not rice either.

Anyway, thanks for the help, i'll just stick with stock BOV then. I was just wondering since i'm parting out my Si and I have a ton of turbo ****.
