Just got an EVO MR, BOV question.
Having once owned an sti... and soon evo I never quite understood the BOV thing. It makes noise, big whoop. Then again I never under loud exhausts either.
Performance is everything, anything that just makes noise is ghetto/rice.

MR already has the better suspenion and wheels. Changing those is unwise. But I already know you dont car about performance - you want it to be bling with some 18s, and lowered. Add the turbo spool and BOV -- complete package.

Final note, what's the advantage of your BOV?
This person may not be along the same lines as most on this forum but, it doesn't mean you gotta go sticking it in their face like your better than them and they don't deserve the car?
Those three little letters B O V drive people crazy but most of them fail to realize that a Diverter Valve (DV) and a BOV (Blowoff Valve) are the same damn thing. People automatically assume that the abbreviation BOV equates to an atmosphere vented bypass valve.
The proper answer to the BOV question should have been. If you do not plan to run high boost, 18psi+, there is no need to change the OEM BOV. Also, if you run a BOV that is vented to the atmosphere on a OEM MAF setup the car WILL encounter stalling and rich conditions. Then you could go as far as to explain why those conditions would occur instead of acting like a 1 year old with soggy load in his pamper.
It is her car and her money! There are plenty of aftermarket suspension setups that outperform the MR setup and there are people who do not like BBS wheels. She can always sell the suspension and wheels to offset the cost of her purchases but I'd keep the parts just in case I decide to sell the car.
evo337chik - What are your plans for the car? Auto X, Drag racing or just cruising the highways?
Add an outlet pipe, a good exhaust and free flowing air filter followed by a reflash of the ECU so you can maximize the power from your upgrades. There are many boost controllers on the market so you will have to do some research on that topic. I have been using an AVC-R since '00 and I love it. It is not cheap and it takes a while to setup it up correctly but very few boost controllers can perform to it's level at this price. There are more expensive EBC's with more bells and whistles but I do not think they are what you need so try to keep it simple. As recommended by another member, a good boost gauge would be nice to have but if you get an EBC you really do not need a boost gauge unless you are going for the disco light show in your car.
My negative comments - evo337chik if you are looking to slam the car into the ground, add goofy graphics or just try to impress people with the turbo sound .....

SmikeEvo - baught?? I can't find that word in the dictionary. The closest word is baht and that is the currency of Thailand

Rutt, I have some of those coins upstairs! Please forgive my a/o, p/b switches.
Wow, you read too much into things. Ha, rude? Try to the point. But I will say buying a car, then asking about what options it has...is well...not what I would do. But hey not my money, so
for evo337chik for going in blind.
18s can add rotational (unsprung) weight. So if you have a rim that weights 17 lbs and change it to a 24 lbs rim - what do you think is better?
Yep - I have a Type S, why well my stocker leaks bad. Got a good deal on the Type S, it holds boost well, and I cannot complain about it. Advantage - it works.
Great Idea!

I'm going to do about 6 months of research before I buy my first mod (I don't consider snow tires or stereo upgrade a mod). It can get real expensive if you just buy stuff willynilly and you never know if its going to blow up in your face.
