Just got an EVO MR, BOV question.

I called a shop to day wanting to buy a bov and they told me that they cause problems. Im very confused in getting it and which one to get. I need you input. I was looking into ARC. Anyways, what goes when wrong when you put a BOV onto your car.

*Also what does the SE package contain on the EVO's. My evo has red-stitching on the seats, it has hid leveling thing...Is that part of the package. Just curious.
I'm a total n00b. Just got out of the german car scene. So help me out!!! thanks

if you have the red stitching you have a SE. Don't change to a bov. The stocker dv is great.
Aliminium roof, BBS, hids, and a lip. Thats a SE

Vent to air BOVs can cause stalling / idling problems on Evos.

First off, stop whatever modding you are doing and read/search IX mods.

You do not need a DV. Your IX DV works great. Secondy, intake needs to be tuned.

Third - you bought at Evo, and a SE at that and dont know what you bought?

SE package = red stitched Recaros, HIDs, aluminum roof, BBS wheels.
For the MR, it's called an "Apperance package" and is just red stitched Recaros + silver BBS wheels. The MRs already have HIDs and aluminum roof.

Please don't get a BOV. You have absolutely no need for one until you're pushing well beyond stock boost levels. Save that money and get yourself a reflash.

Thanks, so what can I do to enhance that turbo noise by a bit. Is an intake bad??? wheels and suspension is a must for me. What are other basic mods I can do?

SE is almost an MR but without the 6 speed transmission. The red stitching you have is an appearance package available for the MR which includes a front air dam extension and the diamond black finished BBS wheels.

Do NOT get a BOV.

Edit-wow you guys respond quickly, I typed out a quick reply, went and took a sip of water and changed the channel on the TV and BAM, all those responses...lol

Must for you? No what I think your trying to say is I would like it to be Ricey.

MR already has the better suspenion and wheels. Changing those is unwise. But I already know you dont car about performance - you want it to be bling with some 18s, and lowered. Add the turbo spool and BOV -- complete package.

dont waste ur money on a BOV. look into an exhaust or boost gauge (if you dont have one) first...bov = no better performance but actually a possibility for worse performance

Here are the basic mods you want to be looking at. I'm gonna guess based on what I've read about the parts you want so far.

-Swift, WORKS, or RS*R Ti2000 springs
-Open cone filter (to hear that BOV at work)
-Reflash (absolutely critical with an open cone filter)
-Whatever wheels you want although the BBS wheels are VERY nice wheels to start off with. They only weigh 17lbs if memory serves correct, so if you're changing wheels, try to stick with something that weighs at most 17lbs. Otherwise you're adding unsprung weight which is a big no no.
-Test pipe if you want to keep the stock exhaust
-Manual boost controller
-Boost gauge

That will put down some good power and still entice your "I want to hear the whoosh" appetite.
