would like some advice

this is my first post even though i have been a member of this site for awhile now. but this isn't a happy first post.

first a little history. i bought my car in late febuary of this year and have been loving it ever since

last week my car started making a strange noise when i slowed down, at first it kinda sounded like the brakes grinding, but after paying more attention and listening to where the sound came from, it wasn't the brakes. it sounded like, and was confirmed by a couple passengers it sounded like it was coming from the rear of the car, and the only thing i could think of was the differential was the problem.

after the sound seemed to get worse i decided to take the car to the dealership to get looked over and try to find out what in the world it could be. i took it in this past monday (20th) and they said they would get to it that day and see what it could be. i called them tuesday and they told me that they traced the sound to the transmission, and said that the sound was caused by some bearings going out in the tranny. and knowing that transmission work is usually pretty expensive, i asked if the warranty should cover it.

here is when it starts getting interesing. they told me that it wouldn't be covered under warranty due to the fact that i had an aftermarket clutch installed and that basicly voided my warranty. although it is in my car, i bought it like that so it came that way. also when i bought my car i had purchased the extended warranty cause i figured i might need it due to the fact of it being a high maintenance vehicle.

so i asked them about the extended warranty and they said they would have to make some further investigations about that. they had also said that they might be able to get back the manufactures warranty if i have them install an oem clutch while they work on the tranny. now correct me if i am wrong, but because they sold me an extended warranty, they either have to honor it or they have to refund it, because if they don't, isn't that breaking some law of some sort?

sorry for such a long post and any advice or guidance that you guys can give would be greatly appreciated,,

thanks
