Trade in value on 05 EVO?

What are some of the dealers buying or trade in prices on low mileage 05 EVO's with SSL? I have been to several dealers but they seem puzzled by the car and tell me I would be better to sell it on my own. I am looking for $24-$25k, is that reasonable?
Thanks

A VW dealer wanted to give me $17,000 for my 2005 with about 21,000 miles. I pretty much took that as an insult. Only a young mechanic there knew what the car was. Needless to say I left that place in a hurry.

Not suprising, because you traded your 8 for a 9. They can resell the 8 for about $25,000-27,000 with no problem. I have a friend that works as the fleet manager at a local mitsu dealership and another friend just traded in his 03 as well, about same mileage as you, and the fleet manager gave him $23,000 trade in value.
You can find the trade in value on KBB.COM and EDMUNDS.COM

When I thought about trading in my car, I was offered $22,000 trade in for my EVO 8 with SSL, also an 05 with about 20,000 miles on it. I was insulted and just left.

The reselling value on our cars aren't as good as others, if you can, selling it privately may be the better choice. But if it is your only car, it can be hard and may have to take the bite with a trade in.

it all really depends on what dealership u go to and if they want the car or not

its honestly a hit or miss, but it definitely helps if you wash the car before you take it in and vacuum it etc etc

but i can check in the little black book they use at the dealership i work at and post some of the trade in prices they have listed in there

It all depends if you are buying a car from the dealer. If you are there is all kinds of funny math that can make the trade in look higher etc etc. If you go to Carmax they will just buy the car you might get 22K-23K. I have a 05 non SSL they offered me 20.9K.

from Black Book Research (blackbookusa.com)

05 EVO VII

Xtra-Clean : 23100
Clean : 22400
Average : 20700
Rough : 18800

thats just from one resource, its one of the things the used car managers use when they evaluate a trade in, also factor in miles, condition, whether they want the vehicle i guess also

black book is gonna be your most accurate resource...

KBB and Edmunds have no idea how to put a price on a vehicle. They have never sold/bought a vehicle since they began.

I work at CarMax as a buyer and go to auctions at least once a week and buy cars.
Only a super low mile per year vehicle (lower than 10K per model year) will ever see Xtra clean
good miles per model year (15K miles per model year) will see clean book
and so on and so on

But also a lot of vehicles are seasonal. Sports cars and luxury cars dont tend to bring as much money in the fall and winter as they do in the spring and summer.

Most anything out of factory warranty will be around avg book.

Trade in values are going to vary by what you are trading the car in on and how much you are getting raped on the new car.

My guess .... a best trade in for yours on another EVO would be $22k.

your best bet would be to sell privately. dealerships will rip you off.

i work at a dealership and your right on the money, thats a black book price, when you go to trade it in they are going to give you average book ,unless you higher milage then there are deducts, like 30001-40000miles is a $350 deduct i believe..? but you will get right around 20,500
