New just saying Hello
New just saying Hello
Hello, new and wanted to say hi all you out there. I have 2004 RA thunder gray. After 2 years of having my baby i finally decide to start modding it out. ( finally got a good job :P). well so far i on my first 2 mods i have decide to get is RRM/manga flow exhaust and a CAI. That is where i ran into some trouble. After reading this forum i really like the RRM CAI, but alot of my buddies have said to go with AEM or injen. I live in AZ, so i not worry about water getting sucked up in it, so i not worried if it has a bypass valve or not, but wouldnt knock that option. I just wondering if anyone has any input on which CAI to get and some strengths and weakness of them? Also i how does the R/A perform with the CAI compared to the short ram. I know some other cars IE subaru work better with Short ram then CAI. what works better with the R/A?
Also thanks for any input!

from what I remember the rrm cai and sri make about the same hp gain and I would get the rrm brand because there cheaper than the Aem and Injen intakes and make about the same hp................correct me if Im wrong
RRM CAI is cheapest and no noticeable power gains with the other brands. Full exhaust is good if you plan on going turbo, if not and just desire the sound go with the axle back or have a custom axle back made.
I would suggest putting some better tires on the car if you are still running on the RSA's. Yokohama has a nice set that i had on my car that are the same profile as stock. I'll get the number if you are interested
Suspension mods are always a plus for ya too, and not very expensive from RRM. Lower tie bar and rear sway bar +perches will correct a lot of under steer.
I am not an expert with any of the above parts, so if you have any question about them take a look around the forum and you should find info on them.

actually im going for perforamnce. so atm ill be going with the full exhaust to the up to the headers. and every payday or so try to get a new mod done. in the future i plan to go turbo, but i want to make sure the engine will be able to handle what ever i throw at it. suspension will next after the first few mods before i really start doing engine work. Thanks for the info so far cant waiting to hear more from ya guys/gals
after the pulley mod shoudn't you get your car tuned for max performance, if so i would rather get some the basic mods before the pully then get the tune done. Ill look more into the piggy mod. as for the piggy, are there pre set settings on it, or is it like the same type of perfrpmance set ups like they do in the performance shops around town?

DON'T get Injen CAI. Reason, is because it hard mounts to the throttle body with no flex. Our engine is pretty jumpy and without motor mounts you will prob eventually break a weld on it.
You may as well support the company that supports us most and get RRM. See if they have any more of the ceramic coated CAI, they are pretty sweeeeet!

I'm new too, been reading out here for a while though, this is my first post. I just picked up my RRM ceramic CAI not too long ago. feels awesome, passengers notice. i'm about to put in my pulley within the next month. my 2 cents

This is odd, because my injen CAI does NOT hard mount to the TB. My cai is joined to the tb via a "flex coupler" so to speak. It also mounts to a rubber grommet-like deal that screws in to a spot on the engine. Perhaps I have a later revision or something. I was actually going to strongly suggest the Inject cai simply because it can be converted from CAI to SRI if you feel like it. Anyway, not meaning to be argumentative, just saying mine seems to be different.
Oh, and welcome to the forums az
