Do I need all weather tires?

I have fuzion zr1, they are not all weather tires. But do you think they are ok for the snow. I was thinking of going to the mountains in CA. Will they try to make me put chains on? I would hate to be the only awd with chains.

Are they rated as " all season "? I think, in CA, troopers stop everyone when it is snowing and make them pass a traction test. If you pass you go on. If not you go home.

I wouldn't drive if you don't have all-season or winter tires. Do you really want to put yourself and your car at risk? You can get some Kumho Ecsta ASX (all-seasons) for really cheap, or you can buy some Blizzaks or M3s.

Absolutely... do not attempt a mountain run with dedicated summer tires. They will turn into hockey pucks.

WS-50's are the shiz. I had a set on my honda (still have them, for 15 inchers if any needs them on their dd and only used for 1 winter). Just picked up a set of the WS-50's for the IX and put them on and I'm ready for some snow.....and it's not coming quick enough

Absolutley under no circumstace should you drive in snow or ice with those tires.
IMO in the summer either. You will be like a poodle walking on ice

I just put a set of Blizzaks on my STi and they are excellent. We just had a huge ice storm and they never lose traction. It would be well worth it to get a set if you are going to the mountains. There is no reason to total your car in order to save a few dollars on tires.

I got my tires from the Tire Rack on a wheel/tire combo. They were mounted and balanced and delivered to my house. All I had to do was swap them out with the stock wheels.
