I'd pay down the VW for a year and then revisit the Evo situation. With payments in the $700~ range, you'll have to be making a lot to be able to afford this car.
+1 you dont want to be upsidedown and try to trade in your car....be patient and sell or pay your car down enough to get at least what you owe....then start looking into buying an evo....just my .02c

As several people have said:

Don't do it because it's not worth it. You're going to end up paying a lot more than the car's worth. Pay down your Jetta and keep building financial stability so you don't end up having to sell the Evo or have it reposessed down the road.

When banks refuse to loan to you, that should tell you something about what you're trying to do.

Ok, first, I would never go over @500 a month on a car. That is too much of a hit in my quality of life department.

BUT, to each their own. I agree, pay off the GLi, and then look at getting an Evo in the US and have it shipped.

Keep your VW. Did you consider your insurance payments?

So, in your case, BE HAPPY WITH WHAT YOU HAVE!

No need to kill yourself over something that will give you so much financial grief. Will your gf think less of you if you drive a VW? If she's worth keeping, NO.

Yes, I just got myself a 06 MR but that's only because I can afford one and it's just a pleasure vehicle. Extend your credit perhaps on a house since it usually appreciate but not a freaking car.

Words of advice from someone who's been there, done that.

According to the Dog The Bounty HUnter, it's the Ice

It's not just South Coast that has good price. I bought my car from Lewisville Mitsubishi and they beat South Coast. Moral of the story - shop around.

Unless he gets a really, really good job, he won't have much money for anything else besides the Evolution. You wouldn't want to live like that, would you?

It its between the STI or WRX, I say the STI. I owned an STI before the EVO and IMO, they are good cars, almost on the same line with the Evo. The only thing about the STI is that it is more expensive to make power as compare to EVOs. The steering/cornering isn't as good, however, I always enjoy the boxster engine.

With the Subaru deal, are you going to loose money still? If so, I'd just payoff your VW, sell it, and get the Evo X.
