Bored in School trying to decide what color MR to get.
There has been an abundance of these threads lately, and everyone saying the same thing over and over is getting quite anoying.
My first "vehicle" was my R6. Turned 16, purchased an R6... I'm still alive, i didn't wreck it until over a year later, and i only wrecked it because i was stunting; everyone knows your going to wreck eventually if you're stunting.
And I think the Evo being "fast" is irrelevant. I SWEAR to god, that when i had my old beater, i would smash that thing EVERYWHERE; i would crash into anything, and i almost wrecked it 3590325328 times, but didn't because i got lucky. - Neither on my bike, nor in my Evo have i ever shown such carelessness. The big power keeps me going to speed limit, because you can't even go full throttle without A LOT of space. I seriously go the speed limit 90% of the time in my Evo and on my bike, always have always will; but i was wreckless in that 1996 neon like none other, 99% of the time i was driving like a stupid 16 yr old kid.
I seriously believe have something nice, and powerful, warrants much more cautious, thoughtful driving; and i am testemant to that.

who gives a **** how old he is... i had a 02 m3 for my first car... never wrecked that, never been in any accidents...
so i think telling younger people to get a pos for a first car is getting old... and all you old farts need to find something new to complain about... cause " your too young" and "search" is getting old
cheers =-p

Wow. I did not want one of these boards. And ive been driving an m3 for 2 years. It started out with parking lots when I was 14. then to back raods, then more busy streets and for about 6 months now ive been taking it out every day anywhere i want with my parents in the car of course.
If I werent smart I wouldnt have a 4.2 GPA as a sophmore and already have college credits now would I? If you werent so smart, youd probably working right now or be doing something more productive with your life.
DONT DO IT!, i baught mines at 21, and im 22 now, its been HELL! massive debt, EVERY oil change, tune up cost money, its insane how these cars are so exspensive, and yeah it hauls ***. but buying a car like this doesnt put u in a catagory with turbo civics, were in a almost supercar. and i recommend thinking about your finacial situation..its hard on the wallet for sure
How do you have a 4.2 when most schools top out at a 4.0? Unless your school tacks on half credits like mine did. Also a friend of mine sold his evo to a 17 year old kid. He even took the kids mom on a ride and scared her to try to convince her to not buy the Evo. She did of course and then 2 weeks later he got a call that the kid totalled the car running from the cops and they were trying to sell the car back to him. Thats why they are saying not to buy the car. The numbers speak for themselves. Although there are other people on here who are 16 and 17 and still have their evo's there are too many younger ppl out there who have wrecked their Evos. Either way good luck my friend and just be careful with it if you get on. Turbo cars are different than anything you've probably drive already.
Are you going to street race/speed?
Are you going to show of infront of your friends by doing stupid ***t in a parking lot?
Are you going to put chrome 19" rims with spinners on it or flame vinyl or anything else you might have seen on a riced out civic in a schoot parking lot?
Do you want to get the EVO because you've read that it will get you laid?
etc.....Too many questions to list, but you get the point.
If you answered YES to any of these questions then DO NOT GET AN EVO you are not ready for it yet!
If you answered NO then get it in Silver

And dont tell me you dont speed. Thats just flat out bullsh**. Everyone breaks the speed limit now and then. i wont do it every time but if you tell me youve never sped in your evo youre full of ****.

With that being said I think 16 is a little early to have a car like this, because i mean its almost a 40,000 sports car, and i dont care what anyone tried to say at 16 you will show off and you will get reckless with it. Driving with your parents and being responsible does not mean jack crap... BUT on the other hand its a free country and thats what makes it great. So to all the 16 year olds out there with the means to get a evo and maintain it i say
Oh and to answer the original post, GG all the way.
I saw that comming. So you're the 1 ***** who buys a wannabe bike and hangs behind as 9 out of 10 people pull away on 1 wheel.Believe me, i was definatly the only 17 year old around "showing off and crashing." The rest were guys in their mid 20's, dieing... If you think it's a bunch of 16 year old kids that stunt streetbikes, crash, and die; you're sadly confused.
I think guys in their mid 20's shouldn't own fast vehicles, way more dangerous.

Come to think of it, i don't know 1 teenager that had died on a bike; i definatly know a handful of older folks though.

I'll agree partially. Having a fast car does promote you to go faster and perhaps show off. Stunting on a bike is stunting on a bike, that has nothing to corrisond to age. If your good you're good, if not you're praticing or just chancing it + having fun.
In an evo you may go slow as granny but if you're late for work you rip all the way their. maybe you had a bad day, maybe you're not mature fopr your age and will never grow up. But YES, younger kids are more prone to accidents because of the inexperience.
There's too many factors to blame for crashing. mayeb it just so happens a lot of younger kids do crash these cars, but how many crash none-evos. Either way they are going to wreck it something. Maybe the old people are jelous mom and dad didn't buy them that car. I'm certainly am. I've been through 9 cars on my own and paid my own insurance since I started driving. I hate the 16 year old punk rollin in a IX. I guess you just have to overcome that issue and just say F it. Everyone has a different life style; it just so happens they hit the mommydaddy jack pot.
Just my .02, that and I'm tired of hearing these stupid theads about younger kids and I'm really pissed/tired and bored studing for finals pulling the 4.5+ year plan.
Congrats on the honors and AP classes (being serious... I know how hard they are...). Still i know this kid never intended on running from the cops, but none the less his lack of experience got him in a wreck. Since your family seems to be very well off get the Evo and then get a daily beater. Just something like a old civic or something. Also i do agree with the point that if you have a nicer/more powerful car you tend to take better care of it. When i had my 1st car (ford escort station wagon) i didnt care what happened to it. Then once i got my 240sx i started washing the car and taking care of it. Driving the speed limit for most of the time. Now with the Evo im so **** about it its not funny. So i hope this is the case for you.
