cheap mod

hi i was looking around for lots of sound and maybe some more power, i talked with a guy that told me he had removed the tube between the the cat and the muffler therefore having no functional muffler just a cat system instead of catback lol. Also had another friend that told me he put washers between the place that connects both of them therefore letting part of the exhaust fumes come out trough the space in the connection. Have anyone done one of these and does these ideas reduce the restriction that is needed too much?

are you talking about removing your cat, which will make your catback portion useless? im assuming that running nothing after your downpipe will reduce restriction but you'll possibly shoot flames out the bottom of your car. get 3" piping and that's already more than enough for stock turbo people.

It's illegal to remove your cat, isn't it?

Don't go illegal just because you want to save a few bucks.

you would have to somehow rig the muffler to stay in the same location after removing the intermediate pipe

very minimal. get a good catback and a test pipe to replace the cat. DONT REMOVE THE PIPING as you may get some noxious gasses in the car while driving. not worth it. your not driving a civic. get a good set up and you dont have to worry about "restrictions"

I am typically very polite and nice guy but I must say your ideas are the dumbess I ever heard.

Also your friend telling you to put washers as spacers between the cat and the downpipe to have the exhaust gases leak is perhaps not just dumb but retarded.

Seriously man, you bought a Evo MR and you are trashing your car that way already?, there are many many other ways to "accomplish" your goals without going insanely dumb.

You are drifting from success bro.. your friends are perhaps your worst advisors. Why would you remove the pipe that connects the muffler to the cat? If so, why not to just take the entire cat back section anyway?
the washers between the bolts holding the cat would only create you an anoying pssshhhhh sounds of a typical leak plus it would create turbulence and negatively affect flow (gases would have to exit now in a 90 degree pattern).

Do you really want to ruin a Evo MR with a cheap a$$ exhaustless sound? Why?

Carlos

not worth it

get a test pipe for a noticeable power gain
get a muffler delete pipe for great sound

or get both for around 300

^^^^ Thanks bro!! I just can't comprehend.. someone has the cash to buy a MR but decides to ruin the car for a "cheap mod"(according to the title).

It would give the Evo the reputation of ricer car and he will get pull over consistently due to excesive sound/noise.

My apologies for the soft cuswords I used earlier but feel me bro..

Good idea. Sorry about my reaction, I painfully heard your friends comments leading you to disaster , that is all.

I am glad you decided to hear the opinion of Evo drivers instead.
