Post BYe, bye DSM, help me choose an Evo VIII

I'm seriously considering selling my DSM that I've had for the last few years and moving onto an EVO VIII (more in my price range right now).

I should have about $2,500-$3,000 left for mods along with a few hold over things from my DSM. These are the mods I would be holding onto: Modified 1g BOV, Hallman MBC, PTE 780cc injectors, AEM WB gauge kit, Coolingmist Alky injection kit, and HKS turbo timer. I'm not sure if DSM Link would be able to carry over, but I have read of atleast 1 person using it on an Evo VIII, but not sure if this would be a good idea or not

I'm looking for an Evo VIII RS, but they seem hard to find (seems like the front LSD would be perfect for the 1/4 mile track, so it may be worth the wait)
Here are some questions:
1. Would DSM Link be a good tuning device for the Evo VIII?
2. I like the drag strip would the RS be what I'm looking for or does it matter?
3. I would rather go with a 3" electric cutout rather than a full 3" exhaust since I'm stationed out here in Cali, is this a good alternative to a TBE?
4. I would like to go with atleast harden intercooler pipes, Evo MR Bilstein shocks & lowering springs, MR vortec generator thingy, and HKS 272/280 cam gears along with my carry over mods. In my mind this would address alot of different areas and give the car some pep, but any criticism is welcome. TIA and sorry for the novel...

About #2, if the strip is your deal NO Evo would be a great choice. They like the curves of road courses and the like, drag racing produces many front diff/transfer case issues with Evos. The RS is lightest though, so I guess it would be best if racing straight with a good handler is a must...
