stock boost is 19 tapering to 16, and no it wont hurt the engine life the compresion is low for boost.and the sti stock boost is 14 but they have bigger displacment for more torque,we make it up with boost.

Wow...

Ill say this simply. If yourlooking for a high milage vehicle, the Evo is not a good choice. No turbo-ed vehicle would be ideal for a person that wants 100,000+ miles without major service...

I somewhat disagree. My 1990 300ZXTT with 434rwhp and 475rwtq had 120,000 original miles before I sold it. The new owner did a compression test and a leak down test before he bought it and to my suprise everything was in spec. Keep up with the general maintenance such as:

1. Oil changes
2. Spark plug changes
3. spark plug wires
4. fluid changes (differential, transfer case, tranny) I recommend every 10,000 miles
5. timing belt service per owners manual
6. Regulary inspect hoses/clamps etc

IMO nothing I listed above is MAJOR service. The 60k service and 120k service is expensive and time consuming but it's preventitive maintenance.

But then again I believe that any car will last with proper maintenance.

Sounds like you had a great experience! I fogot about the 6cylinder turbo-ed vehicles, but the 4 cylinder variety usually need a new turbo at the very least before or right around 100,000 miles...

Thanks for the info. But why would 4 cylinder turbos need to be replaced at 100K a turbo is a turbo IMO. On my 300ZX Twin Turbo I was boosting 19psi on pump gas and nismo 555cc Injectors and the seals were still holding good and the turbos were boosting great no smoke upon start up or driving. Guess I was lucky.

As with most performance vehicles turbo'ed or not your going to find the maintenance schedule of an Evo or an STI more expensive than their more oderated counterparts. To keep your performance vehicle running smooth as possible you will have to follow the maintenance schedule.

It also goes without saying that the harder you drive the car the faster parts wear out. High performance motors wear out faster because the stress on their components is much greater than the stress on low performance motors. Of course if you don't push the limits of the motor very often you can potentially keep an extremely high performance motor running indefinitely.

Performance cars tend to:

1) Use more expensive tires more often
2) Use more fuel (didn't see that one coming did ya :P)
3) Need maintenance like oil, tranny fluids changed more often
4) Be far less forgiving about dropping the clutch and so forth (more power you have the more power goes into destroying that drivetrain)
