I have an 03 with 63k miles and have never had any problems with it. I drive it hard too, so there is no reason to stay away from the 03-04s. I am concerned with the replaced xfer case though, that is indicative that there may have been some abuse.

If tuned properly, the 8 should be close to 350 awhp already...

Drive them both and see which one you like better...

 

You just have to take care of your car, most people dont. I had one ('03) and never had any issues w/ it...The reasons I stepped up to the IX RS - ACD, front LSD, alum roof, reduced weight, shorter gearing, bigger turbo, and mivec. my VIII was a great car and the next person to own it will be stepping into a very prestine vehicle....

 

I wouldn't pay more that 20-21 thousand for the used one. If you can talk him down to that then get it, if not go for the RS.

You don't need the power windows and crap, this car is so fun you don't even need the radio! I don't even turn mine on...

 

this is a good point.....If you dont like road noise DO NOT get the RS. no sound deadening = you to hear everything...lol

lol i like you man, i cant really afford it but im going to get it, im leaving right now to go to the dealer, there willing to take a few hundred dollars off so im going to see what i can get it for and i might just come home with it. we will see

 

go to another dealer if they won't let you test drive it... f them! just go somewhere else..
