Thinking about purchasing an EVO IX

Hey everyone,

I am a newb to this forum, but please do your best to give me your feedback. I am in the market for a 2006 EVO IX or a 2006 WRX STI. Now, I have driven the EVO and have been a passenger in the STI, I must admit I do like both of the cars. But, the EVO impressed me a lot more, esp. the handling and the more aggressive look.

My question to you is what is better about the EVO IX vs. the 2006 WRX STI?

Thank You.

Hey man -

You should try the forum's search function; you'll find about a thousand threads comparing these two cars.

Good luck with your decision! (Go with the EVO!)

Everyone has there own personal opinion. You already drove the evo. Now go drive a sti and make your choice. Choose which ever one YOU like better

Yeah, you should search first.

I have an 06 STI and got rid of my EVO 8. I am in the middle of saving for a IX RS. I will not disrespect either vehicle. They are both sick cars!!! It is personal preference at this point. I love the Evo's turning and driving it just around town. I love the STI's torque and looks. I love the Evo's front mount. I love the Evo's 4G63. I hate the interior on both cars to be honest. Both cars also rattle like hell after a while. I love the way the STI feels on the freeway at 110 mph+. I love the STI's tranny.

I could be here for days and days between the two. Again it comes down to what you like, you are the one going to be driving it everyday. Either way you cannot go wrong. I say get both!

Are you serious? I'm pretty sure that is relative to where you are located.
Both cars are great! I have owned an 04 STI, and now I own a IX SE. Both have thier advantages and disadvantages. Evo Motor > STI motor, STI Tranny > Evo Tranny, Cost to mod Evo < Cost to mod STI, handling of Evo > handling of STI. Personnal opinion here, but I hate the look of the new STI's. Good luck with your choice, you really can't go wrong.

there were two huge reasons i got the evo, so many people have rex's and stis but you really don't see a lot of evos.. secondly my dad liked the evo and my mom hated the sti (prolly cuz the dumbass who brought us for a text drive pulled 80+ on some back road)

you should go and drive the sti. Then compare the two then figure out which one you like the best.
Good luck with either one you choose!

I just got into cars 2 weeks ago
so this opinion is from uper noob

My friend has 06 STI and I just bought EVO 9 GSR. I should compare it to Evo MR but here it goes.

CD Player - STI comes with stock 6 disk changer my GSR doesnt.
Interior - STi interior sux compare to evo. Even the STi owner liked my interior better.
Dashboard - STI's dashboard light looks better than my stock GSR(could be diff in MR).
Seats - both recardo(right?) but Evo seat looks way better than STI.
Headlight - STI has stock HID but my GSR dont(but u do in SSS option and MR)
Driving - Evo feels faster than STI(thats what friend told me)

By driving, you hear STI's turbo sound from interior and you can barely hear it from outside. I can barely hear my turbo from inside but its loud when you hear it from outside.
I really like Sprinkle system in STI's intercooler.

my GSR was like 4k less than STI
If I chose between MR and STI, I would get MR(in RED)

thats my opinion.

I hope you are joking about ESXmotorsport Sti.
Probably The most overpriced underperforming example of STi I have ever seen.
As far as Evo vs STi, it all comes down to personal preference.
Both are great cars.
I switched to Evo for handling, ease of mod, looks, etc.
