[QUOTE=thehive;3859689]well sorry i do have to ask, this is a lot of money to be dumping in to something that is goin to lose value once i drive it off the lot , not tryin be rude or ofend you or anyting jus this is jus kinda of import thats jus tryin to weigh the pros an cons
thanks 4 wheel for the info, what are the pro an cons for a evo9 if you dont mind
any new car is a bad investment, modding a car is personal taste and chances of getting your money back on resale or trade in is zero.

im lookin into either the 350 or evo 9 that all i can afford i would get an MR evo but kinda up there ive been readong on the 350 an the are a host of probelms mainly the front tires wearing out an makein a load roar i seen reports of the fly by wire gas peadel not worken an the synchros goin out too neededing warrenty repair , i wanted to know what issuse an the reliablity of the evo 9 or jus evos in general. i jus want to get a good street car that im not dumping money into to keep it running or having to take it to the dealers every 5 mins. thanks guys
My bro drives 06 350z and I drive 06 evo 9 gsr.
We both like evo better but when other people sees it 350z is better looking.
for young people like early 20s who knows about evo like evo better.
my parents think 350z is better.

matt5058, do you forget the Evolution comes factory turbo, and the Z cost much less then the regular GSR?
Besides, the 350z does have huge after market backing, even larger then the IX, whose being overshadowed right now by less parts then the longer-running VIII.

350z is about same price. My bro bought his for around 28k (sticker price was about 32k) mine was about 28k too (32k sticker price)
but insurance I pay 300 more (6months) than 350z
BTW check out the 07 350z. Dual intakes but hood.....looks like crap
305 pony due to 2 intake

EVO is a race car disguised as a street car. 350Z is a street car that looks like a race car. Out of the box EVO is 100 times more fun to drive, but 350Z is more comfortable. I wouldn't compare 350Z, Mustang GT or RX8 (owned them both before) in the same league as the EVO. They are different cars with different purposes. JMHO.
I know the EVO is turbo'd from the factory......that's one of the reasons I think it's a much better car then the Z. The NA V6 is nothing spectacular. Yeah the Z might have a ton of aftermarket support but you can get a lot more power for cheap out of a turbocharged four banger than an NA V6. PLUS the money it would take to do a solid FI setup on the Z....you could have an INSANE fast EVO. Factory FI is hard to beat when it comes to modding. Look at the 03/04 Cobra...

i listed them.... if you plan on keeping it stock the 350 is more comfortable the evo is more of a race car... which 1 do you want?
theyre both fast...
after you decide that.... do you plan on modding? what kind of modding... exterior/interior or motor?
for less than 1000$ you can run in the 11's with an evo
the turbo kit on the z is around 5-6k installed and youll be mid 12's if you can hook up..
with a downpipe 100, cut out 25$, mbc 80$, few gallons of race gas 15-20$, and a mailin tune 50$ you can run 11's....
so figure out what u want then go put yourself and debt and regret in a year after the hype is done....
soooooooooooo....
if you have to ask how much a car is, and you actually need to count pennies both cars arent for you...
look into the new gti, included maintence, and also mod friendly... a chip, intake exhaust about 1200 will put you around 300bhp... maybe a little more... 20k all you have to pay for is tires and gas....
cheers!

The Evo can get expensive to maintain if you use it as a daily driver. I've had an Evo since late 02, used it as daily driver for 30K miles, traded it in at 42K, have 15K on IX, but's a weekend car now - MUCH nicer to own one as a second car.
It can cost you upwards of $1000/mo or more to care and feed an Evo, depending on how you purchase it, how you drive it, if you're a newbie AWD owner, insur, etc.
Driving AWD and RWD is a big difference, you will learn how to be smoother in AWD as far as controlling weight transfer and working with the drivetrain. If you think you can get F&F because it's AWD, you'll end up crashing the thing.
Stock vs stock, well driven vs. well driven - bout the same, the 350Z is more than fast enough for the street in the hands of experience.
Mod vs mod - unless the 350 has turbos (JWT twin turbo kit IMO) it's not even funny. Infact you can almost start laughing if the 350 has an aftermarket exhaust (exhausts on the 350 can even lose power) since that's usually a sign of newb for the 350s. With a turbo and 91 oct you get about 330rwhp with about 6lbs - but the cost is too high and the car wasnt designed for a turbo in mind.
If you have a nice job and can comfortably set aside $700-$1000/mo for an evo, plus have a few grand here and there to do some simple mods you'll have a monster car for pretty "cheap".
