my tune next weekend
my tune next weekend
not sure what forum to put this in so srry if it belongs somewhere else, my tune is being scheduled for next weekend at tunning technologies, my current mods are hks carbon ti exhaust system, hks downpipe, act street clutch. mods being put on are walboro fuel pump, K&N drop in filter, and an MBC. my question is, should i add anything else to the list that could make some more numbers besides turbo upgrade or cams. any advice or suggestions, i appreciate, i am open ears for all comments
You should be good as far as mods go, but I would reccomend changing the plugs and doing a boost leak test just to make sure the car is in perfect mechanical condition. If it were me I wouild also change the oil, but not really a must-do. Who's tuning your car, Alfred, or someone else?
Are you still on the stock cat? If you are replace it with either a HFC, test pipe, or maybe something like RRE's rally cat. Your tuner will thank you plus you'll pick up some pretty good gains over the stock catalytic converter.

yeah i was thinking about maybe a test pipe or a high flow cat but my only concern is whether it will make my car louder? dont wanna cause cop trouble because of sound
It will definitely make the car louder, but with the stock cat, you won't make much power, especially with 91oct. Otherwise, your mods are proper for stg1. You spent way more than necessary for those HKS exhaust parts, but oh well.

Warr's statement is still acurate.
OP, gl have fun with it.
Ultimately it is your choice of mods.
You'll pick up a little more power versus the stock cat with a HFC. The best solution would be a test pipe obviously. I picked up a peak of 6whp untuned after I installed mine. It was definately louder though. I'm not gonna lie. Especially off throttle and at idle which sorta bugged me. It also leaves a yellow residue on the bumper around the exhaust tip that needs to be cleaned at least once or twice a month just so it doesn't stain the finish. In the end I replaced the test pipe with one of RRE's rallly cats. It's basically just a resonated test pipe designed to look like a cat from the outside. I think something like that is probably the best balance of ballz-out power, volume and staying under the smog **** radar here in CA.

HFC won't make hardly any power over the stock cat while costing $200+. I can think of much better ways to spend that money...
Todd, I'm sure he likes HKS, which is why he got those parts. Never said anything about that. It's just that many newbies think that HKS is the way to go and spend ungodly amounts without realizing they don't make more power than exhausts half the price...and sometimes the HKS stuff makes LESS power due to not being true 3". If people know this and simply don't care, then fine, that's their choice. The problem is that most don't know and waste their money, which is a shame.
