So why don't we ever talk about..
A close friend of mine has an '05 sti that I liked after driving it. My wife has an '04 mazda 6. So, I test drove the ms6 when I was looking at buying a car last august. The clutch has horrible pedal feel. The evo and sti both are infinitely better performance-wise. Ironically, I think that the interiors in the evo and sti are better than the ms6 as well. In the end, the evo was the car for me.

I like the MS6, nice looking, decent interior and performance with awd. It is not at all competing with the EVO as it is more in line with the Subaru LGT, Accord or Camery. And believe it or not, some people may actually prefer the MS6 to the boy racer EVO OR STi.
I test drove the MS6 when I was in the market for a more practicle, "family" car. The interior is nice. The look of the car is great. It had a lot of goodies like a navigation system, but it definetly was not as fun to drive as the Evo or an STi. Hands down, I made the right choice with the SE. I would get bored driving that car all the time.

Just yesterday on the commute home from work some tool in a red Eclipse or the other (on 121 in Texas) tried to goad me into racing on icy road.
He's probably on the Ecliose forum boasting about how he totally run up and killed some Evo.
