Go around the box. Do not attempt a burn out, you will hurt something...

Ill also include my 2step tech, as Im guessing you may not know how to properly launch the car...

PS - take off that KN Typhoon intake - is one of theee worst for the Evo - search Typhoon...

Head straight to the line up, you can't do burn out with awd anyway. When the first yellow light started, clutch in, first gear, hold rev steady at 5000-5500, start slipping the clutch out at the last yellow light (before it turns green), when the car started moving side step the clutch with the gas all in, quickly shift to 2nd gear at 7000 rpm... Enjoy.

If I may add to this - he will hit the 2step limiter at 5k. So you cannot hold it at 5500 - this is the quick slip method for cars without the 2step (03/04s without the flashed 2step added)...

You're right. That's why I mentioned 5000-5500 rpm in case he has the rev limit removed or raised up. On my 05 MR, I launched with the stock rev limit fine. Work great and easy on the clutch/trans.

Gotcha I too use the 5k 2step (1.61s 60')

No problem! One more thing, it's ok if you can't avoid the water. A little spin will help save your trans a lot.
