Question EVO 8 or 9, Choices?

First of all hello to all and glad to be apart of the community, my name is Andy.

I have just recently sold my daily driver and parted out my mostly strip car. I am ready to dive into the Evo world coming from a long, strange trip via German performance car world .

What I am struggling the most with is deciding to either start building a car from the VIII or IX platform. Here is what I am looking for the car to do:

-Serve daily driver duties during the week and race light sportsman classes on the weekends occasional.

-Reliability being the number #1 priority of drivetrain/motor

-Ultimate goal being 121mph+ traps

I do like the IX alittle more because of the little touches in body styling but mostly the upgraded look of the seats. I will have about $13,000 to spend between a down payment and performance mods.

My question I guess is: do you think my money would be better spent in modding a VIII and getting to do alittle more to it such as maybe building the trans/motor or do you think I could still get away with putting some money down on a IX and getting the performance/reliability I am needing from the car???

Really any input would be great because I am torn between the two. Thanks in advance guys and I am glad to be joining the good side finally .

The IX by a mile, it makes much more power easilly with the MIVEC and larger turbo and better head design. I traded in my VIII for an IX, so much better.

put $10,000 down on the IX and the 3g's left over should cover what you are looking to do!
