Fuel pump is not a need like on the 8 but it's insurance.

I currently have an intake, DP, TP, mbc @ 23psi, and custom tune and my injector duty cycle isn't close to max. Still many people get it as an insurance measure.

And add a test pipe in there too.

You really should get a fuel pump desipite what some people here say. For $85 bucks, why not? I would also get the test pipe over the downpipe or just spend more money and get a full TBE. The cat delete will do more than a dowpipe with a stock cat.

sorry for the newbish question..but when you get a fuel pump for the 8...i think i've seen here somewhere (prolly on the how to's) on replacing the fuel pump...is it located inside the fuel tank? i have a fuel pump in my garage from my previous car and i was wondering if i could install that on my evo...it came with my drag turbo kit i purchased a while back for my old civic. it whines when the ignition is on and was in the engine bay and not the fuel tank. i'm pretty new to this so sorry if i'm jacking the thread.

Not sure why your telling him to just get a downpipe when you still have a stock cat. you really wont gain much because the cat is 2.5 in which will still constrict flow....might as well save up to get a tbe with high flow cat or test pipe.

Understandable that the IX has a better fuel pump than the VIII, but it is an insurance factor. Personally I would rather flow enough fuel than have the car run lean which can result in bad things. I wouldnt get a Cone filter yet until you get more mods..there actually has been proven hp loss compared to keeping the stock filter box... good Drop-In is an alternative if you dont want to buy a fuel pump. So to reiterate what I stated before:

MBC/Fuel Pump/Custom Tune

or

MBC/Drop In/Custom Tune

Agreed.... don't get a friggin cone filter unless you want a performance loss with your stock Evo.

If I were you, I'd bide my time and save it. When you get enough money accumulated for everything (full exhaust and a good tune for that exhaust setup) then spend the money. Buying just the catback right now wouldn't be all that bad of an idea. Buying a tune right now would be a waste since you would be spending the money for a "stock downpipe, stock cat, stock muffler" tune. Then, when you did get the whole exhaust, you would be spending that money for the tune all over again. But if you plan on sticking with the stock stuff.....

I just like my Vishnu V400 package. 400+ bhp is a good thing. A good quality tune is the best thing. Don't go cheapo on a tune. Get a reputable tuner with a proven record. Shiv isn't the only one FYI.
