Rust spots in paint. Ideas?

Well winter is upon us and hopefully about over. I've been doing a hell of a job keeping the car washed and the salt off of it.

But I have some what I think might be a serious issue or just normal. This is my first white car so it might just be more noticeable.

Below is two pics of my trunk and one of my passenger door. These rust spots on or in the paint COVER the car from head to toe with the trunk being the worst. They seem to come off with some scratching with my finger nail. However I am confused as to if this is normal or I should be running to the dealer crying wolf.

Any comments or ideas? Is this normal and do I need to not freak out and just spend a weekend clay baring the car?

Door far shot.

Trunk far shot.

Same trunk section but close up. HOT DAMN!!!!

mitsu has crappy paint. the non metallic paints have less layers of paint than the metallic ones. you cant really do anything now. you can get someone to re clear coat your car to stop more rust

or you can get a whole new paint job =X

i dont know if i would call it rust. i had a white honda and it would always get like that on the trunk. but a really good wax and all that would take it all off.

so for that purpose i dont think its rust, or at least not rust from your car.

Its hard to say what the best plan of attack would be but have you tried claybaring the car and then keeping a good coat of wax on it? the best solution (if claybar doesn't get rid of it) would be to just have the problem areas resprayed...this is a pretty common thing with the evos...

I think these spots are from metal as the rotors wear, gets stuck on the paint then oxidizes into the paint.

Thats most likely just a really bad case of 'fallout', not rust...It is most noticable on white cars.. try a few claybar sessions on the car and I would say you can get most of it off... goodluck..

could be iron from the water getting into the imperfections of the paint. Claybars I'm not too fond of, but normally wax will get the spots off... or buff it to get the imperfections out. If it keeps happening, take it to a body shop and see what they say about it.[/SIZE]

You know, that wouldn't help.

Those aren't rust spots, my dad had them on his 2002 white accord, just use some rubbing compound to get them off (Need to use a little elbow grease). Normally happens to white cars, best solution to keep em off would be to keep a car cover on the car, no more spots after that.

Thanks for the replies guys. I plan to clay bar it and wax it once it gets nice here again. Just wanted to make sure that this was semi-normal on white cars.
