You don't have to worry about knock if you are stock. If I am correct I believe it's when the air/fuel mixture ignites before or after the piston has come to it's correct spot for igniting the mixture. This causes the piston to slam and cause tons of stress on the piston.

Could be dirty injectors, or a faulty injector. Also, these cars run pig rich from the factory so maybe your just carboned up.

You are running super unleaded right?

knock is a term to describe predetonation. Piston going up - fuel ignites prematurely or explodes rather than slow burn - causes excessive cylinder pressure, piston's trying to go up explosion pushing down, you get the idea.

Can be cause by excessive heat, bad or low octane fuel, excessive ignition timing, lean conditions, rich conditions, bad spark plugs, this list can go on forever.

you dont want to deal with any kind of knocking on your EVO.. everycar basically has a knock sensor to be sure everything in the engine (Ex: Piston) is soppose to be doing what its soppose to be doing..if not then the knock sensor comes in place....if im giving wrong info. then some-one can tell him but thats what ive known about Knock.....

What octane fuel are you using?? If you are using anything less than premium fuel, im sure your knock sensor is going crazy and pulling timing.

pressure test!!!!

here you go this guy did it a little Gettho Fab but it the same thing

http://www.supercar-engineering.com/...T/IntPresTest/

what i used was a coupler that had a cnc cap and a tire air valve, went out to harbour frieght purchase a tire inflator with a gauge on it or you can use the gauge on your air compressor whatever works for or you can have a buddy sit in your car and watch the boost gauge work too

i had a problem where my car where i couldn't boost pass 5psi and everytime i cranck the MBC up it only budge alittle on the gauge i was so bricks i broke my new car!!!!! to find out one of the boost pressure line going to the factory boost gauge (i also have a Defi BF gauge that is rite of the manifold) so point is my car was realease the pressure not making power which sucks!!!!!!!!

also one good result i found out for pressure testing was one of my injector was not sealing correctly loss power

You answered your own question. You can't baby the Evo take it out and beat it for a while AKA Italion tune up.

try resetting the ecu by disconnecting the battery for a short while and reconnecting. It could be a bad tank of gas (happen to my 03 sometimes).

Would that be something to notice with a boost meter?

Nevermind....found a thread on it.

Here is even a picture of the boost leak test
