Felt like I hit a wall...help

A few days ago I accelerated pretty hard in third gear. When the rpm's hit about 5,000 or 5,500 it felt like I hit a wall. The car was pulling pretty hard and then all of a sudden it felt like there was no power whatsoever. It honestly felt like I hit a wall, like a limiter of some sort.

Has this ever happened to anyone? What could be going on?

Thanks in advance.

FYI this is a 2003 with only a XEDE and TBE. I put the exhaust on about two weeks ago. I am pretty sure I have accelerated hard since installing the exhaust, but maybe this was the first time. Do you think the exhaust has something to do with this issue?

Fuel cut.

You need to be reflashed. Let me know if you are interested.

Maybe getting rid of the XEDE and getting a flash would be the better way to go.

Same thing happened to me when i first had my evo, the snorkel on the stock intake wasnt bolted down. It kept flipping up and right when i would get to 5000 rpm the thing would just go nowhere. Check that first.

Your added exhaust parts spoolup the turbo faster and drive up the MAF HZ readings into new areas on the map. There is a KPA limit programmed in the ECU designed to cut fuel when you reach this threshold. Your stock exhaust could not spool the turbo up fast enough to reach those areas of the map before.

Laf @ spark plugs. Good one, Bartek.

Hey, McDougal, it sounds like fuel cut as TTP mentioned and explained, but to be sure, did you hit a brick wall and totally lose power, or did your boost suddenly drop from full to 10psi or less but with the car continuing to accelerate (slowly)?

McDougal, check the snorkle first.

If it is not held down you will hit a wall when it is sucked up against the hood and chokes the turbo for air.

Did you hear the loud pop from the exhaust? I'm pretty sure that's a fuel cut

I had a problem with my snorkle also but it would make a weird sucking noise. I never did get that "hit a wall" feeling. My guess would be a flash.
