New Car Buying Problem?

I've found a 06 GSR Evo at a Volvo dealer near my house. There asking 26,900.
Friday we got it down to 26,000. after 2 hours. Some **** went wrong with financing so we said we will come back. But we didn't leave a deposit. The salesman called and I told him we are coming back tonight. There were these bad scratches I told him if theres anything they can do about it. He said come in tonight and we will talk about it. Me and my brother went to go check on the car just to look at it before my dad comes from work. The salesman said the scratches are getting fixed and that the price is higher than the offer they gave us on Friday. I know thats BS because its not our fault the scratches were there. We shouldn't pay more for a car there fixing no?

I know if they put up the price that my father wont buy the car. WTF can I do to get it at that price they gave us on Friday?

buy a different car, there are plenty of nice fast evo's on this forum that are for sale, or try searching autotrader for a better deal, your better off going through a private seller, dealerships are gonna try and rip you off

I need to buy from dealer because I'm going to finance it. This is the best price I've found and I'm sick and tired of waiting.

You don't need to buy from a dealer in order to get financing. Shop around with your local banks.

Thats the problem the car is going to be under my parents name and we already have enough loans out. My father wants to do it with the dealers bank.

Well your father is either being close-minded or has enough of a credit problem that he can't get financing elsewhere. If thats the case an Evo shouldn't be the first thing on the priority list anyway. You'll get a much better rate though a credit union and you can find a better deal then what your dealership is trying to stick you with.

Just let your dad beat him up on the price they probably are trying to take advantage of you.

If they want to sell the car they will come down on the price.

good luck!

Ok, but an auto loan is an auto loan and the impact on your father's debt/income ratio will be the same regardless of whether you use a third party bank or the dealer's bank. All banks in the US report to the same credit bureaus.

I don't see any reason at all why you should be restricted to using a single bank (the dealer), unless 1.) your dad is just being bullheaded or 2.) he's trying to finance something he can't afford and thinks the dealer is more likely to overlook it.

Just tell the dealer that you will pay the price you agreed on or thank you anyway and have a nice day. I can guarentee you he will give you the car for the original agreed price.

i'm a salesman, so let me make some light of this....first off the dealership will probably get you the best rate, only a few credit unions will come close or beat them, as for the price what was the listed price

Thats horse****. On new cars, dealerships will tend to give you fairly competitive rates. On used cars, however, they are VERY rarely close to what kind of rates you can get independently through banks or CU's

Don't be impatient. Thats why the dealership is trying to suck you dry, they can see you really want the car. Play your hand close to your chest.
