intake?
intake?
just went to get an oil change and i asked the service guy what can i do to my car that wont void the warrenty..so he said i can get a turbo back cold air intake and like a turbo timer...so i wanted to start off by getting a intake and i was just wanted to know what intakes you guys reccomend
what we recommend? drop in filter K&N or Works I know there are a few others.
However about the service guy allowing what mods to be on the car so the car will still be under warranty is not true. When a repair exceeds XXXX amount of dollars the regional service rep is sent in and views the car to see if it's a legit claim. If he sees some mods on it he may reject the warranty claim.

I'd definately go this route:
1. Intake
2. Exhaust + tune at the same time.
The intake route first will help your engine breath a lot better, cheap, easy mod. The exhaust work, either it be catback only, catback+test pipes will free up your exhaust path so much that you're car is going to be running really bad.
The car comes rich from stock, you add an intake and now very free flowing exhaust, especially being a turbo car.
Your stock A/F timing is going to be whack and causing you to actually lose power if you do the intake/exhaust but no tuning.
As for the turbo timer, why spend the $60 bucks and the headache of the install?
If you're one to floor it around everywhere, then you've answered the question above. With normal boosting and normal driver for 10 mins afterwards before parking, you're fine, no need for a TT. Save that money towards the HKS racing suction
Good luck with it.

If you really want an intake instead of a drop in, you shouldnt get an intake first like the above post. He has #1 and #2 mixed up.
It should be an exhaust #1
then an intake + tune at the same time.
The stock intake is good for a lot of power and an Evo is not a Honda
You dont really need a tt also unless you are always in a rush.

first off you dont need a turbo timer at all IMO. The Evo turbo is water cooled and oil lubricated and with synthetic oil its not going to coke anyhow. If you've been beating on your car you should drive around for a minute to let it cool off anyhow. Turbo timer does nothing to help cool down your brakes or any other part of your car. Just carbons up the combustion chambers idling.
Get a turbo back, drop in, mbc and a flash. done. Also, if you do some searching you'll find we dont recommend an intake for a Evo unless you have exceeded it's flow ability (Stock intake is good for 400-500hp). Intakes cause distrubance in the Mass Air Flow sensor and are more likely to slow you down than speed you up. Also you may develop idle problems and drivability issues. If you get an intake you need to get tuned for it or you will likely lose HP.
As far as warranty, if something breaks on your car I suggest putting the cat and downpipe back on the car and taking off any flash or mbc No matter who said what - If it's going to cost
to do a repair to your car they will very quickly forget telling you anything. Remember when the salesman touted the 10yr 100,000 mile warranty?? Read on here about how many people get jacked on mitsu warranty. Alot of times they have to get district approval to order certain parts and if anything other than a catback or a clean drop in is in yoru car your gonna be hating yourself for not removing those parts before taking it in.
