question about acceleration

hi i have searched but i cant find what i am looking for. So it seems to be that this is a normal symptom since nobody has experienced it. Is the Evo little slow on responding to acceleration before boost kicks in? i mean like when i start to drive it feels like the clutch isnt fully unengaged. kinda feels like a auto tranny downshifting when i go WOT on throttle. But when boost kicks in everything just seems to accelerate fine. it kinda sounds like i m a noob at driving stick cuz the RPM is going up but the car isnt really responding to it. this is kinda hard to explain so i hope u guys know what i m trying to say. I was thinking has my clutch gone bad or is this normal.?

Sounds like two things: 1. Normal Turbo lag. 2. Your clutch is slipping.

How many mods do you have and how many miles is on the car? Is your RPM's moving up but nothing is happening?

If the clutch is slipping then his rmp's would go up till the clutch grabbed then they would drop again...he also says wen the boost hits then it accelerates fine, if the clutch was bad wen the boost hit the rpm's would just take off and the car wouldnt move

I agree, but if the clutch is slipping a little (like I experienced) then he would have the same symptoms.

I don't have that on my car Before that turbo spools you are just a little 2.0L 4 banger. You should visit the driving techniques forum to see how to avoid turbo lag under certain situations.

I doubt it's the clutch slipping, it would happen much more drastically when the boost picks up. That's a bigger jump in TQ to the clutch than punching it with it in 1st gear rolling from a stop I'm sure.

Also, RPM does funny things with the exhaust system blocked (bad cat/potato in tailpipe, etc.) if you want more things it could be

sorry i didnt mention the status of my car its an 05evo with little over 8k and no mods. i guess its the turbo lag ...... never experienced turbo lag before so wouldnt know what that is unless what i am experiencing is turbo lag..i ve driven other turbo cars but jetta's and eclipse's probably dont have a turbo lag cuz of the small turbo.

Take it to the dealer and have them check it out for you. Let them do all the hard work figuring this out.
