i got evo 9, mods: HKS carbon TI cat exhust and HKS racing suction intake. i want to know which intercooler is the best, AMS, HKS? but i want to get ic pipes now before getting FMIC. oh ya and which pipes should i use?so pliz help me..

Please search!! This topic has been talked about so many times.

There is Nisei, ARC, AMS, Buschur among the top ones. It all depends on what you want to do with the car. With stock turbo, I would spend the money someplace else.

For starters, I'd get tuned, If not done already.

Next, bushings to shift better.

 

stock pipes and IC is good.

put the $ on a good alky kit and tune...zooM Zoom...

 

You would use alky on the stock IC; if so how much boost?

 

intercooler is NOT needed yet at this level. take that money and get it tuned/reflashed. cams would be your next big mod. then a turbo. get it retuned and THEN you will possibly need an intercooler.

Hey man,

I started modding my car using the AMS evolution build up. It get's you all the basic bolt ons's taken care of to prepare for big power like a turbo upgrade.

I'm a firm believer in spreading out the wealth as opposed to buying all at one time as well. I'd rather have the intercooler setup with the pipes before I get the turbo kit--especially since a turbo kit is 3k+ and an intercooler is 700. It isn't necessary right now--but will be soon enough if you plan on upgrading the turbo setup and it still helps with HP regardless.

So to answer your question--I went with AMS.
