is the DIY timing belt tool safe?
is the DIY timing belt tool safe?
i am going to install cams soon, so i need the timing belt tool. its something that i dont really want to spend $70 for it. i would rather buy a used one.
Some one told me to just buy a 8mmx1.25(i think) and then jam 2 nuts on the end...
is this safe? has any one done this and had success or problems?

ams sells a cheaper/better tool than oem. Check their site, its a good tool to have.
Its a simple tool to make but why? it wont be worth it if your home made tool breaks.... trust me
I broke my oem tool ams is going strong.

Yes, I have used a piece of 8mm threaded rod with the 2 nuts locked on one end.
Works just fine.
It also doubles, when you slide a big socket over it, as a make shift slide hammer to pull out the output shaft when taking the tranny out.
