i dont have either one, but when i did my research about this topic. i found out that V1 is the best. also it has the arrow signal that tells you where the signal/frequency is coming from.

I seriously love my passport x50 however they have a new one out with gps so you dont have false alarms alot.

The x50 with the laser scrambler is my dream but the v1 is good also.

if the V1 has arrows pointing to the rear of the car, how does the V1 know its coming from the rear? doesnt need (V1) be visible so the radar gun hit the detector in order to work? or do the radar waves travel thru the car?

The V1 is the only radar detector that has a forward facing antenna and one antenna that faces the rear of the car. Valentine Research has the patent on the arrows and more than one antenna in a single radar detector to locate radar.

If a cop is driving up behind you shooting radar, the front and rear antenna will detect the radar but the rear arrow will light up because the signal is stronger from the rear. If you slow down and the cop drives beside you, the arrows will go to the side because the front and rear antenna are detecting equal amounts of radar. As the cop drives in front of you, the rear antenna is no longer detecting radar so the front arrow will light up to let you know the threat is in front of you.

the only people that recommend something other than the V1 are those that haven't tried a V1.

V1, hands down, the best there is.
