Best boost leak tester?

Is there something i can buy to check for boost leaks? I assume there is and it would be fairly cheap..

I searched and found this http://www.vfaq.com/mods/ICtester.html

I usually take my car into my shop to check for leaks, but i dont trust them anymore....Just going to do it myself.

I bought mine from fighters garage and it worked great.

I also know that somewhere on this site, there are instructions on how to make one. Should be able to search and find.

i went to home depot and made one with about $6 worth of materials. really easy to do.

you just need a 2.5" coupler(inside diameter), a pvc end cap(2.5"outside diameter), a valve stem and two hose clamps that fit the outside of the coupler.
then you make a hole on the end cap, slide the valve stem into the hole, then slide the end cap into the coupler and use one of the hose clamps to secure it. then just follow the instructions to do the boost test. it should take you about 20miutes to build your tester and to do the actual boost leak test

Absolutely correct BRP. I just made a thread about this the other day. That's exactly the same thing I did too. I measured the tubro inlet, and then went to lowes' and measured the couplers ID to match and the PVC endcaps OD to match the ID of the coupler.

Someone needs to make a HOW TO so that people can find the information more easily.

they even have couplers that already come with the hose clamps attached to it. seriously this takes 5 minutes out of your time and it costs a whole $6. what i wrote above is a "how to" as detailled as it needs to be, there is nothing else that needs to be done.

The dimensions of the two mentioned methods don't match. Brp says to use a (2.5" outside diameter) pvc end cap while the other website says to use a 1.5" inside diameter one. I bought an end cap from Lowe's that said it was 1.5" and after measuring it the outside diameter doesn't come to 2.5" outside diameter. Is the bottom line just as long as the 2.5" inside diameter coupler fits the turbo housing and the pvc end cap fits inside there without any leaks?
