BMC air filters

Just ordered one, but man.. it was difficult. Called all of BMC's N/A distributors, and no one had it in stock for an EVO. Too bad. Ended up having to order it straight from BMC in Italy... came out to $160 US including shipping and a cleaning kit. I'll let you know what I think once it comes in.

wow that's pricey. I'm sure KTR performance could have shipped one to you. I think they are quality units, let us know how it goes.

The sad part is, KTR is the first distributor I called. They were completely out, and the person I spoke too said they have no intention of restocking anytime soon. What that's supposed to mean? No clue...

Wow that's surprising. So why did you opt to go with BMC over K&N or Works? any particular reason?

Never did like K&N, especially coming from the M3 world. BMC I've heard of before from F1 and other motorsports, and knew a few guys (M3 and Porsche) with those filters. So I decided to give them a try for myself. Other than that, I have no experience with them or the Work's filters. Hopefully, the money spent would be worth it.

Yeah BMC is great. ITG makes great filters too, I just have never had one made before.

For the best pricing on BMC's that I know of here in the states call the parts counter of San Rafael Mitsu @ (415) 454-7000. They used to let them go for like $105 shipped and I believe they still have some in stock. I have held the BMC drop in up next to the K&N and the Works filters. It simply has the most un interrupted surface area you can achieve with the dimensions of the stock like design.

I appreciate it Ben. Also, if you carry the Cleaning/OIl kit as well and pricing.

Yes. Got it on Wednesday actually. Came in a big box with BMC tape all around it. It was a bit delayed in arrival, as it had to get x-rayed in Italy, then clear customs in the US.

As for the filter itself; quality looks very good. Not alot of silicone over-run on the pleats. The cotton itself doesn't appear to have been over-oiled either which is a good thing. I also got a cleaning kit, some BMC pamphlets, and a BMC sticker.

I got a chance to really wring out the car again today over at Bear Mountain. Met up with some M3 buddies to hit the twisties. Initial impression with the new filter is minimal. If anything, throttle response is a *tad* better. Other than that, I can't really notice a difference... not that I was expecting too anyway. To me, as long as the engine breathes a bit better over stock, I'm happy.
