Blow off valve Question

I had a quick question that has probably been answered here many times before so excuse me if it is a repeat question, but is there any disadvantage to swapping out a factory re-circulating blow off valve for one that dumps out into the atmosphere? I removed the factory BOV capping off where it use to re-circulate and now have a BOV that totally dumps outside into the atmosphere and the car doesn't stall or anything and runs and idles fine, but is there any disadvantage to it because I'm figuring there must be a reason why they have them re-circulate from the factory...

Thanks in advance for any info anyone may have

i heard that its bad for the car. for many reasons.
1. all the pressure of your car is being released, which causes it to make the whoosh noise.
2. it slows down car if you dont tune it.

well i wouldnt know cause i was thinking about it, but i read alot of things about it so dont pay attention to me

I think that on these forums at least, the factory style recirculating diverter valve is preferred over the venting to atmosphere blow off valves as long as one´s car retains the factory mass air flow setup. The drivability of most cars suffers when a VAT is used in place of the recirculating diverter valve.

The Mass Air Flow meter measures intake air as it flows across it. This metered air is compared by your ECU with post combustion residual oxygen by the O2 sensor in your exhuaust system, as well as throttle position and intake air temps, based on this comparison your ECU determines fueling and timing.

When you dump air out into the atmosphere from this closed system you F**K everything up, because your ECU can´t accurately account for the lost air!

makes your car run rich in between shifts, and usually cause stalling when coming to a stop. If you want to here the DV get a intake but remember to get it tuned.

Thanks for the replies everyone

Yeah...It's very loud, but the car seems to run the same. I may have to pop back on the factory BOV and see if I notice any difference again.

Thanks again for the replies

Just for the record, I put the factory BOV back on and in all honesty, the throttle response was a lot better. I guess hearing the aftermarket BOV dump in the atmosphere, it plays with your mind making you think it was doing something great(LOL), but I'm back to getting the tires to chirp again in 3rd gear. I wasted a 1/4 tank of gas trying to get the boost back to 14lbs because on the first run I almost hit 20lbs of boost with the manual boost controller left to where it was setup for the aftermarket BOV, but finally I got it back down after quite a few turns(LOL)

Thanks again for the replies and if anyone wants a pretty good read on the differences between venting into the atmosphere and re-circulating, I found this...HTH someone

If I wanted to search something I would have, which is the reason I asked a question.

all you would have to do is type in "recirculating", "vta", etc. there's a million threads about this.

you have a compressor bypass valve from the factory, not a blow off valve. Your ECU doesnt know that the air that it already metered, and added extra fuel to mix with it, has left your intake path and wont go into your engine. Rich condition = fouled plugs & stalling off throttle in most cases

Showing the rest of this community that you're too lazy to search (which would consist of you clicking once, maybe twice with the mouse and typing one, maybe two words on the keyboard) and would rather post a new thread (which consisted of you typing well over 50 words and clicking the mouse numerous times) is rather counterproductive.

Don't you think?
